Now you may be wondering why such a low rating… I ordered a hamburger, grilled flake with lemon and 3 dimsims with soy sauce.
when i got back to the job to begin eating i was extremely disappointed to realise he put all of 2 drops of soy sauce and NO lemon in my order. i don’t know if this was a money saving tactic or not but it definitely won’t work because his lost a customer. would not recommend unless you bring your own sauces. on a good note hamburger was decent.
Ordered fish for my mums 40 day memorial and it was the most disgusting fish and so embarrassing to feed people lunch with fish that was like rubber, threw most of it out. Cost me over $200 and new management told me there’s nothing I can do about it. All they care about is customers money but quality well no quality! We would never recommend this take away to anyone!
Ordered from them on Too Good To Go app, but was denied collection, on basis that they claim they have dropped themselves from the app already. Only after i left the store then was the order cancelled on us. What coincidence in timing? Anyway, wasted our time driving down for nothing to collect. Service staff was very impolite and unhelpful to resolving the situation. Wouldn’t recommend anyone because of poor customer service.
I visited Clarinda Fish and Chippery recently and was extremely disappointed. The customer service was terrible – the person at the counter didn’t even bother to greet us or show a pleasant face. There was absolutely no welcoming attitude, making us feel like a burden rather than a customer.
To make things worse, the food was awful – soggy, bland, and clearly not fresh. For a fish and chip shop, that’s unacceptable. We went in the afternoon, and there wasn’t a single other customer there – now I understand why.
I definitely won’t be coming back and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for good food and decent service.
First, they charged my girlfriend, who was buying potato cakes for her daughter and two friends. $2 each. Okay, whatever. She waited for over 15 minutes. The shopkeeper had them in one bag. She politely asked if she could have them in individual bags. Without an ounce of shame, he said “that’ll be 60c.” 30c per bag on greasy, bland, generic potato cakes. Literally eat anywhere else. Avoid.
I placed an order through the Clarinda Fish & Chippery app, which successfully charged me and confirmed my food would be ready in 10 minutes. When I arrived, the staff couldn’t find my order—even though it appeared in their app. They told me it would be another 10 minutes, but I ended up waiting over 30 minutes before finally receiving my food. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the delay, and no sense of customer care.
Having lived in the area for years, I’ve seen owners come and go at this shop, but the current management clearly lacks basic customer service skills. I won’t be returning—there are other fish and chip shops nearby that value their customers and deliver on their promises!

Their burgers are so delicious, great value and I cannot get over how clean they are.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to say, this fish and chips shop has exceeded my expectations! Now under new management, and I am absolutely blown away. The owner is genuine, kind,friendly , and most of all, exceptionally…clean! Without a doubt, the freshest, most delicious food. The grilled fish was amazing. The portion sizes were value for money. AND, they have have fried mars bars too! Please, support this business, and give them a try. Guaranteed, you won’t be disappointed! Thank you again Clarinda Fish and Chips !
