About
Fish & Chips Takeaway sits in Dandenong, conveniently located near Chisholm TAFE, and draws a loyal lunchtime crowd from the campus and nearby Dandenong Hospital. Despite the fish and chip shop name, the menu leans heavily into Vietnamese-style bánh mì rolls and hearty burgers, making it a popular spot for a quick, affordable bite during the day.
The bánh mì rolls are the clear highlight here, packed with fresh ingredients and full of flavour. The roast pork roll comes highly recommended, and those who enjoy a bit of heat will appreciate the chilli, which carries a genuine kick. The chicken schnitzel burger is another popular order, with regulars noting it’s generously made and satisfying. Rina and the team behind the counter are known for friendly, fast service and a genuine effort to get every order right.
This is a takeaway-only venue with no dine-in seating, which keeps the operation focused and the line moving quickly at peak times. It’s family friendly, with a kids’ menu available, and accepts credit cards, debit cards, and NFC payments. Free street parking makes it easy to duck in and out.
For anyone near Dandenong looking for a casual, affordable lunch with a bit of variety beyond the usual fish and chips fare, this little shop is well worth knowing about. Phone ahead during the lunchtime rush if you’re in a hurry.

Fresh food, best Vietnamese pork roll in Australia.
Great Bahn mi. Always popular during the day with hospital staff and Chisolm staff/students. Highly recommend the roast pork roll. Beware: the chili has a nice kick. If you’re after a burger both the chicken schnitzel burger and the burger with the lot are to die for.
Must be under new management as the reviews don’t match my experience.
Ordered a pork roll and souvlaki the meat was pre cooked and re heated it was chewy the bread was stale it was reheated to crisp up .
So much potential
Last time I went they were already closed at 5:30pm. Time before that I got there at 2pm and they were out of chips. It’s pot luck if they’ll be open or have any food to serve. With 4 other takeaway food stores in the strip, it’s a wonder they’re in business.
This place is essentially a Banh Mi shop masquerading as a fish and chip shop. I have no issues with Banh Mi but I do have issues with false advertising. Despite being on the price board, the classics featured at a regular fish and chip shop are always refused here. Chips? No. Spring Rolls? Sorry. Dim Sims? Don’t even think about it. If they’re feeling generous you might get offered potato cakes as a compromise. Sometimes even that is too much. Sadly will have to go elsewhere to fill those fish and chip cravings.
Great place for a Bahn Mi, always great and fast service. Staff are very kind and friendly and do their best to get it right every time. Not quite a fish and chip shop but great burgers and rolls.
Great little takeaway shop. Rina and her team make the tastiest Bahn Mi and Chicken Schnitzel burgers. They are bursting with flavour, made with the freshest ingredients and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend as a lunch time delight!
Located at the back of Chisholm TAFE where gate 6 is. Very busy at lunch time. This place is a home run business by an old couple and their daughter. Affordable prices. Variety of Vietnamese bread rolls (I believe the owners are not Vietnamese though, but who cares right?) Snacks like crab stick, dimsim and potato cake are always ready for grab and go. Friendly service! Last time, I grabbed some snacks during lunch time but it wasn’t hot or warm enough which let me down a little bit. I came back for a second time after school. This time the dimsim was hot and crunchy from the outside which is good. I love to support local business. If you’re in the area or you’re Chisholm students at building V, W, come and give it a go guys.
