About
Flakey Jakes is a casual fish and chip shop in Dingley Village, Victoria, serving both dine-in and takeaway for lunch and dinner. The venue is family friendly with a dedicated kids’ menu, and the car park and entrance are fully wheelchair accessible. Free parking is available on street and in the adjoining lot, and the shop accepts card and NFC mobile payments.
The menu features flake and calamari among the highlights, and regulars speak well of the freshness and quality when the kitchen is firing. The chips in particular have earned a following for being cooked to a proper golden crisp while staying soft inside, and the calamari is noted as tender rather than rubbery. Scallops also get a mention from those who visit regularly.
Feedback across the shop’s reviews is a mixed bag. Many regulars are loyal and appreciate the freshly made food at reasonable prices, favouring it over large chain alternatives. A smaller number have raised concerns about orders being prepared too early and arriving cold. As with many local takeaway spots, timing your visit or calling ahead during busy periods can make a difference.
Worth a visit for families in the Dingley Village area looking for a sit-down or takeaway fish and chips option. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to check wait times.

I have had great fish and chips from many different places but I am going to make this shop my go to place from now on. Everything is fresh and delicious, especially the flake and scallops. Price is comparable to other places where I was not that impressed with. Thumbs up 👍
OMG! Didn’t listen when doing my phone order. Told me it will be 20mins. So go down at 10min and was already cooked and cold. Chips gross and burger is meh. Don’t waste your money here. I feel sad as I like supporting locals but this is D grade
Have been going here for a few years now. Food is always hot, freshly made and reasonably priced. So much better than the large national food chain takeaway places.
I’m happy to find a fish and chip shop that cooks chips long enough so they are golden crisp on the outside while still being soft on the inside. I also had calamari, which was tender and delicious, and the scallops my friend had were given a thumbs up for freshness and tenderness. We’ll definitely be going back.
non friendly service. the worst part is the cook keep touching his nose and part of his face while cooking and serving the food without gloves. first & last time I’ll be here.
Went here because my usual shop in Dingley Village was closed. Big mistake!!! By far and away the worst fish and chips I’ve ever tasted. Dim sims totally burnt. All ended up in the bin
Worst customer service, very rude! Absolutely no communication and waited over an hour, even though they said 30 minutes. Has no employees, only himself.
Food was good customer service was not so good
