About
Eltham Fish & Chips Shop is a popular takeaway spot in Eltham, Victoria, drawing a steady crowd for both lunch and dinner. The venue is family friendly, with a kids’ menu on offer and wheelchair-accessible entry, making it an easy choice for a wide range of diners. Parking is straightforward too, with free street and car park options nearby.
The menu goes beyond the standard fare. The chicken souvlaki stands out for the quality of its chicken, and potato cakes also feature among the regulars’ picks. Fresh fillets with a well-judged batter and golden chips are the shop’s strong suit, and the service from the owner and staff is patient, friendly, and genuinely welcoming.
The shop holds a solid reputation built on consistent standards. That said, some visits have drawn mixed feedback around wrapping and how items hold up after packing, so collecting your order promptly is worthwhile. The venue is takeaway only, with no dine-in seating, and a short wait is common during busy periods. Payment by card or mobile is accepted.
For anyone around Eltham looking for a reliable fish and chip shop, this one is worth keeping on the list. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to save time.

Fish and chips shops are everywhere. The key is to have fresh fillets with just the right amount of flour, golden chips though not overcooked. I find this little shop achieving standards every single time!! A must try if you haven’t been to it!!
Absolute best fish and chips I’ve ever had in my life. Came in today with a friend and we’ve never been more happy. Gentleman that served me was very kind to us and is genuinely a very nice person.
Honestly this is one of the best photos I’ve ever taken in my life, this is not a joke.
The saddest hamburger with the lot l have ever seen. Bun was dry, with a patty and some lettuces ONLY!! If l wasn’t so hungry… extremely disappointed.
Got F&C today gradually over time we noticed you get less chips but tonight a serving so small for $6 it was ridiculous. It was all very dry also. Will not be returning.
Customer service was great and the owner was very patient as I took forever to decide on what I wanted.
Couldn’t criticize the food either, in particular the chicken souvlaki, where I could tell the quality of the chicken is very high.
Reading through the reviews many many were positive, which is why I chose to go here, and it was worth it.
Many of the few negative reviews were from people who have no idea how a fish and chip shop works (I work in one myself), or they just felt like picking on a small business for no real reason. So, I would be ignoring those small business bullies if you plan on coming here.
Couldn’t recommend this place more.
This is our second time back as the first time was amazing. So disappointed. Why would you wrap potato cakes and fish together?! Potato cakes all soft and soggy and not edible. Fish also soggy. Yet the cold, old tasting chips were wrapped separately. No logic at all in their thought process. Unfortunately I will not be going back.
Just another typical we don’t care attitude here. It’s just a simple case of double checking an order before you send it out. How can a simple order be stuffed up so badly, that by the time you get back to pick up the rest of your order & get home, the original order is cold & uneatable! Time to get better management skills. And this for a simple Fish & Chip shop is pathetic.
I decided to try another fish & chips shop in Eltham yesterday. They’re all pretty good (well so I thought), so I figured I’d try somewhere different… big mistake!
The food was extremely oily, burnt, and the potato cakes were soggy and floppy – no sign of crispness whatsoever. The oil also had that distinct taste of being used a few too many times.
