Beach day calls for fresh crispy fish and chips 🏖

📸 Calamari pack + flake + fish bites + scallops + potato cakes

Good serving sizes and cooked well. Nice batter on the calamari 🦑

Best potato cake I’ve had – light and crispy, sorta like a tempura batter? Chips was okay, haven’t tried any other items on their menu yet.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said about this Hampton staple. You need not reinvent the wheel nor fix something that isn’t broken.

I just visited with my two sons (they’re adopted but don’t tell them) Walt – 28yo, approx 72 fish fillets and Patrick – 24 approx like 3 potato cakes with added salt. They were delighted not only with the greeting by the friendly staff, but they were TRANSFIXED at the quality of oil, salt, and paper linings of boxes.

Yum yum yum in my tum tum tum, is what they said as they were engrossed in their bazzy muns and dippable dips. I’ll be returning rapidly with speed and prowess, with ADDED family I might say, to our salty little palace

I ordered crumbed fish and chips.

The chips I liked. The fish not so much. It wasn’t deep fried. The fish was oily and had bones, scales and skin. Not what I expected.

I have to be honest as I was hoping to have found my go to fish and chip shop in Hampton.

Awful experience. The atmosphere in the restaurant was terrible – they lost our order. No apology, just insistence that they had called it out when it just hadn’t been made. They then made our order and forgot the two extra dimsims we ordered so they owe us money. Don’t go here after the beach when it’s busy – they can’t cope.

So disappointed. Just received the smallest dry, cold peice of fish for $10, it took 3 bites and gone. Chips were good as usual but cannot justify going back again the fish was a disgrace. Not sure if they have changed hands again, young guys running things who I didn’t know, this was my go to fish and chips for the past 5 years, looks like I’m looking for somewhere new in Hampton…

Swordfish Chippery in Hampton near the beach is a classic local fish and chips spot that totally deserves five stars for its simple, tasty fare and friendly vibe.

I popped in for a casual bite and the chips were nice, perfectly cooked with a great texture, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They paired beautifully with whatever you choose off the menu, and made the whole meal feel like a satisfying seaside treat.

The shop has that relaxed takeaway charm you want from a neighbourhood chippery, and the service was quick and welcoming, which makes grabbing lunch or dinner easy and stress free. Good prices.
