About
Malvern Fish & Chipper is a casual fish and chip shop on the Malvern strip, offering dine-in, takeaway, and delivery to suit whatever the occasion calls for. The menu centres on the classics, with fish and chips as the signature, and the shop has built a following among locals who rate the crispy chips and freshly cooked fish. Service is consistently described as quick and friendly, with short wait times even during busy lunch and dinner periods.
A few things are worth knowing before you visit. The chips are generously salted, so regulars who prefer a lighter hand simply ask for no salt when ordering. The burgers have also drawn attention, with a substantial burger with the lot, chips, and a drink available for under twenty dollars making for a solid and affordable lunch.
The venue is family-friendly and accepts card and mobile payments, with free street parking available nearby. There are no reservations, so it operates on a walk-in basis. Delivery is available for those who prefer to order from home.
Opinions on consistency vary, and experiences differ visit to visit, but on a good run the fish is fresh, the batter is crisp, and the service moves fast. A handy option for anyone after fish and chips in Malvern. Check hours before heading in.

Best burger on the strip is found in this unassuming fish and chip shop. A big burger with the lot, plus chips and a drink for under $20? Done deal for lunch any day of the week, I’ll be back to try more options soon!
Great chippy. The food is good, but if you don’t like salt, remember to ask for no salt. It was my only complaint.
The service is great and very quick. Freshly cooked for me within a very short period.
Other than the salt content, tasted great.
I will definitely be back.
I’ve been a regular at this local fish and chip shop for about five years, but after my recent experience, I won’t be going back. I ordered a piece of blue grenadier for my dog and was shocked to find I’d been given barely half a portion — even though I paid full price. When I called to politely raise the issue, the owner was immediately defensive and argumentative, taking no accountability at all.
I’ve supported this business for years, but this kind of attitude and corner-cutting is really disappointing. Lately the quality of the fish has dropped too — not what it used to be. It’s a shame to see a once-good local spot go downhill like this.
Dry, hard meat patty horrible burger, then dim sims dry, hard. All cooked from frozen which would usually be fine, but at least cook it properly. Found owners to be quite cold and unfriendly when I attended too.
Order through uber eats only to have part of my order arrive when I called the store they said it’s here come and collect it. The reason it was ordered through uber was be cause we couldn’t collect it! Manager was un-phased saying I can have a store credit! Why would I want that when part my order is not packed, the food is cold and oily.. you can taste the oil is not cleaned often and the chicken schnitzel was pink still!!! Never again!!
Great fish and chips… food was great and excellent customer service with quick wait times and friendly staff. Highly recommend
Just bought $50 worth of fish and chips, well..you could’ve patched a tyre with the fish it was so dry. The scallop was like a dry fossil from an ancient ruin , chips were so starchy you could iron a nun’s habit and were unsalted. My son’s souvlaki scored a 3/10 and I also agree with others that the oil tasted stale and very unpleasant, so much so that it would make a seagul feel queezy ..
Spend your dough at the Viet Table or Nicosia (once they reopen for the year)
Had a great experience at Malvern Fish & Chipper! The fish was perfectly cooked, the chips were crispy, and everything tasted fresh. The staff were welcoming and fast with service. Great spot for quality fish and chips — will definitely be back!
