About
Brice Avenue Fish & Chips is a family-friendly fish and chip shop in Mooroolbark, serving up takeaway and delivery for locals across the area. The shop is well-regarded for its fish, with snapper fried with salt as the signature dish. Flake also features on the menu, and servings are noted as a generous size. The kitchen cooks in vegetable oil, which some regulars appreciate.
Service is consistently described as friendly and prompt, with staff who are helpful and upfront about wait times. The shop is popular for both lunch and dinner, and free parking makes it an easy stop. A kids’ menu means families are well catered for. Wait times can stretch during busy Friday-night dinner rushes, so phoning ahead for large orders is a good idea.
Pricing sits slightly on the higher end compared to some local alternatives. The shop does the basics well on most visits. Phone ahead during peak hours to avoid a wait.

Came here on a cold autumn night and ordered minimum chips and flake. The staff were so lovely and helpful. The portion size is what I’d expect and the cooking time was 10 minutes just as they’d said. Like that they cook in vegetable oil. Very clean premises.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. No dining in – only takeaway. Good parking out the front.
This was yesterday and four weeks ago . I bought the fish pack with a flake and potato fritter and a pineapple fritter. Both times it tasted good though the chips were reheated and hard and dark. Three hours later I was vomiting and had the runs .the second time in four weeks the food made me sick. I went to explain and the staff pretended to not speak English . I said I don’t want a refund, please find out if the flake is dodgy or the dim sum. Or what make the food bad
Have ordered here twice. First time the food was excellent- was for lunchtime.
Second time- Friday night, 35 degrees and prime dinner time.. well, they were 40 mins behind their estimated pick up time and still taking large orders and giving unrealistic wait times. Someone needed to be running the pass, and turn off the online ordering. Chaos. Everything with batter is still good, chips and potato cakes soggy.
Basically- good if not busy!
How does a piece of grilled fish that’s the same price as fried come smaller than the fried?! I understand there’s no batter but cmon I think this is a bit of a rip off… also always told 20mins and food ALWAYS takes at least 35-40mins to be cooked.
Ordered the Snapper fried Fish with Salt, it was delicious can give them a try
Best fish and chips in town nice sized servings cooked well very friendly service
They always take 30+ minutes to fulfil an uber order on top of the existing eta. DO NOT PICKUP or order from here.
seems changed onwer, fish is a bit fresher than before
