About
Go Fish Fish & Chip Shop is one of Mornington’s better-regarded spots for a feed, carrying a strong reputation built across well over two thousand reviews. The menu stretches well beyond the basics, with calamari rings, potato cakes, and lamb souvlaki sitting alongside the classic fish and chips. Regulars rate the souvlaki especially highly, with the lamb coming out tender and well-seasoned rather than the dry version you sometimes find elsewhere. The batter on the fish is noted for being light rather than heavy and greasy, and the chip serves are generous for the price.
The shop is open for lunch and dinner, with dine-in, takeaway, and delivery all available. Outdoor seating provides room for groups, and the venue is wheelchair accessible throughout. Families are well catered for, with a kids’ menu and vegetarian options on offer. Free parking nearby takes some of the stress out of a busy mealtime visit. Payment by card or NFC mobile is accepted, and reservations can be made, which is handy given that queues are common during peak hours.
Go Fish draws a broad crowd, from local families and tourists exploring the Mornington Peninsula to students after a quick, affordable meal. The Aussie burger with chips has its fans too, coming out fresh and well put together. For a fish and chip shop on the Mornington Peninsula that does more than the standard menu, this one is worth keeping on the list. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to save some waiting time.

The fish and chips we had was fantastic – we enjoyed the barramundi and flathead tails. However the owner of the shop was terribly impatient and rude, we went at 3pm when there were no queues but he was impatiently tapping his pen non stop when we first started looking at the menu. If not for the food we would’ve rated 1 star
Plenty of outdoor seating midweek late lunch for our group of six. Generous serves
Very friendly staff. Plenty of inside and out seating.
Reasonable wait time. Waited about 15-20mins for our two burgers and fries. Which was good considering we followed a group of four.
Burgers were well made and chippies tasty.
The chippies were the highlight as it’s been so long since we have had the fat style. More like the UK fish shops.
Curry sauce was a bit gluggy but the flavour was on point.
Top experience.
We enjoyed our fish n chips here. Nice batter, not horrendously greasy and good serving sizes for the price point.
Came yesterday for fish and chips early just before the rush seemed to have started – when my order was called I had to ask where the gravy was that I had ordered – they had forgotten it but gave me the food and told me they would call by number again. I then proceeded to see them grab the already filled container from the fridge put it into the microwave for 2 minutes then completely forgot about it – it never got stirred or had the temperature checked. i finally went up and asked for it over 10 minutes of waiting later and got ignored by the same staff member who then didn’t seem to know about it. Until finally a lovely young staff member sorted it and I got handed the gravy – completely cold, lumpy and flavourless in the same plastic container it got “heated” in to go with the now cold fish and chips from waiting so long for it to be cooked in a microwave
As Fish and Chip shops go, it has a good menu, service is okay and food quite good. I had an Aussie Burger with chips. It was fresh and tasty. Some seating outside but nothing special.
don’t normally leave reviews but we got home and realised we had 4 potato cakes when we ordered 8. We called back, the girl on the phone was nice and said we could get store credit or go back and they would make them and throw in a couple extra. The potato cakes were tiny to begin with, and they gave us one extra. chips were soggy. Other than that was good food
I ordered a lamb souvlaki and chips, calamari rings and potato cakes. Probably one of the best souvlakis I’ve ever had. The lamb was tender not dry like I’ve had before. The chips were good as well. Very nice place to get fish n chips and sit on the main street. Definitely recommend!!
