About
Gylls & Grylls Fish & Chippery is a takeaway and delivery fish and chip shop serving the Narre Warren community with a menu that goes well beyond the basics. Alongside the expected battered fish and chips, the shop offers kebabs, a battered hot dog, and a deep-fried Mars bar that regulars rate highly. Portions have been a talking point, with many noting the chip serves are notably generous and the overall value for money is solid.
The shop is family friendly and casual in feel, making it a practical stop for a quick dinner without fuss. Takeaway and delivery are both available, and the venue has wheelchair-accessible and free parking on site. Payment by card, debit, or tap-and-go is accepted.
Feedback on the fish itself has been mixed over time, with some visits landing well and others feeling inconsistent, particularly around portion size and quality. The chips, seasoning, and value are more consistently praised. The battered Mars bar with sugar is a crowd-pleaser worth adding to the order.

This is the worst tasting food I have ever had from this fish and chip shop. The fish was so old it was dry and grey, the chips taste like dirt from the ground, and the potatoe cakes are so thin that you are just eating batter. Never again will I be ordering from Gylls & Grylls. I also ordered the Udon satay beef noodles and asked if they could not put as much chilli in the dish, the reply was “we can’t do that”, I guess it’s because it’s not made fresh or comes out of a container. Thumbs down big time for this takeaway shop. 👎
Great food good price. Got kabab deal, small chips to feed 2 easy very generous portions, hot dog in batter amazing, kabab meat not what I expected comes with sauce, lettuce, onion and tomato 😋 deep fried Mars bar with sugar amazing 10/10
Used to go here a lot and was great fish and chips, but this time was average and smaller size portions when it came to the fish tho alot of chips but that couldn’t save the disappointment on the overall meal
Sad it’s gone downhill.
As we were staying nearby for an extended period of time, we have Gylls and Grylls a try multiple times. Value for money was spot on. The deals were reasonable. We got the nuggets and chips packs and that was enough to feed 2 kids.
The flavour of the fish wasn’t great and potato cake wasn’t fresh but frozen and bought in bulk rather than made in store.
Taste very bad, burger was very dry and chips not crispy , they even use the damn paper as the container of the chips. Very bad experience.
They got zero knowledge on how to make fish and chips. NEVER COME THIS SHOP
In recent times, the noodles have been horrible. Hardly any greens and sloppy, too much juice affecting the favour. Its a shame but we are done buying here.
Sooo good! I love my fish and chips and have had tried many places that have turned out average. This place does a great job and with just the right amount of salt. Yum 🙂
Genuinely some pretty good fish and chips. I was genuinely shocked with the amount of food I had received. They have generous portions with reasonable prices and the food tastes pretty good. I think their quality of fish has improved a lot, the kitchens clean and they brought out my food so quick.
