About
Uncle Sam’s Food Mart has built a solid reputation in Pakenham as a relaxed, reliable spot for fish and chips and hearty burgers. With dine-in, takeaway, and delivery all available, it suits a wide range of situations, from a sit-down family meal to a quick order on the way home. The shop is well set up for families, with a kids’ menu, wheelchair-accessible parking, entrance and seating, and free parking on site.
The burgers draw plenty of attention, with regulars noting that the patties, bacon, and eggs are cooked fresh to order. The Deluxe burger, loaded with lettuce, pineapple, beetroot, and a generous serve of chips alongside, is a particular crowd favourite. The lot burger has also earned strong praise, with a house sauce that lifts the whole thing. Potato cakes round out the snack options nicely, and the shop stocks USA soda cans that add a point of difference you won’t find everywhere.
On the fish and chips side, this Pakenham fish and chip shop consistently delivers fresh, crispy results that keep locals coming back. The batter is well regarded, and the chips are described as cooked just right. Friendly, welcoming service is a theme that runs through most visits, and coffee is available for those who want it alongside their meal.
Phone ahead during the dinner rush to keep waiting time down.

Came to try the burgers as I’ve heard many good things about them and was not disappointed! Tried a lot burger and it was fantastic – not sure what sauce they put on but it’s delicious and really takes it to the next level when compared with plain tomato sauce.
Will be back for sure!
Snagged a Deluxe burger meal and it was everything that could be asked for. Fresh lettuce, pineapple and beetroot. Patty, bacon and eggs cooked on the spot. Generous serve of chips that were perfectly cooked as well. Friendly staff who seem to care about keeping the community atmosphere alive and well.
Definitely recommend.
Fish and chips pack with flake which was ridiculously oily and the fish batter was soggy, and half of the flakes had disgusting brown through it and its hard as a rock…
Steamed dimsims were horrible.
Worst fish and chips we’ve had.
Oh, and the remark on leaving the shop about “Hoping we find a decent fish and chip shop in Pakenham” was rude, and completely uncalled for.
We like to support local but We’ll be supporting a friendly, “decent” fish and chip shop even if we have to travel a little bit.
Nice case of Diarrhoea from the food from this place, way too much batter, fish was hard and the chips were sloppy, not a very good eating experience at all for us. Very expensive cost for an upset tummy, I can say that much.
“Comes with pineapple”..yeah right…
Been coming here for 4+ years, prices gone up, quality’s gone down…
Looks like they’re that hard on their luck they’re now cutting canned pineapple in half, got an ear full of excuses when I said something to the owners…won’t be back
We ordered takeaway 2 burgers, a wrap, potato cakes and 3 USA soda cans. Burgers were really nice as were the potato cakes …and we appreciated soda cans different to the normal available elsewhere. Interior a little dated, but friendly service appreciated. We will return.
Unfortunately standards have dropped, very dry fish, forgot our minimum order chips and brown old pickeled onions. Will be skipping here in future.
We absolutely love Uncle Sam’s food mart! We always order our fish and chips and they are cooked to perfection every single time..fresh, crispy and full of flavour.
What makes it even more special is the way we’re treated. From the moment we walk in, we’re welcomed like part of the family. The service is always warm, friendly and genuine.
Much love and respect to the beautiful family at Uncle Sam’s – thank you for always looking after us!
