The fish is fresh and perfectly cooked, batter is light and crispy, chips are perfect and the smashed potato cakes are to die for. The shop is clean, service is friendly and I love that the food is wrapped just in butchers paper the traditional way.
Verdict from family is that this is the best fish and chips, and even though we aren’t exactly local to Pier 50 I think we will still be regulars!
Looking forward to coming back and trying more menu items including the burgers
I am a regular customer, we get dinner from here at least once or twice a fortnight, and i have NEVER been disappointed!! Ron always greets us by name, which is a quality lost amongst most places these days!!

Customer service is good,
Quality of food is quite average 6/10.
Had a recommendation from a friend to give it a go as they had seen a food blogger giving it a smashing review,
From what I recieved this fried fish/chips we’re disappointing.
It was obvious the owner put extra special attention to the bloggers meal to make it sparkle!

Best fish and chips in the area! Batter is so crunchy, clean and delish, potato cakes are the best I’ve had and the fish is super fresh. To top it all off, the owner is also delightful! I must try the smashed potato cakes next time I’m in, I hear they’re excellent ☺️
Love the crispy fish and potato cakes! One of the best in Melbourne! Generous portion with extra 4 crispy cakes! The burger is worth to try! The lovely owner even offered to cut the fish fillet into 4 pieces so each of us got a small bite. He even give super dooper to kiddos after meals. We definitely will come back again.

We came for the smashed potato cakes after seeing a YouTube recommendation. We were not disappointed. Highly recommend them. We also shared a fried flake (which the owner cut in half and battered separately for us), chips and battered dim sims. All really good. We ate in and received really good service. The owner was very friendly and the food was great.
Definitely found our new go to fish & chips the owner is super nice and all the food we ordered was so yummy and fresh! Plus bonus points for the fresh homemade potato cakes!! So glad we came across this place & excited to try out different things on the menu for next time! Highly recommend!!! 😍
