About
The Fish & Chip Shop in Traralgon is a casual dine-in and takeaway spot serving lunch and dinner, with delivery and no-contact delivery options also available. The menu leans into classic Australian fish-and-chip fare, with gummy shark, barramundi, flathead tails, scallops, and calamari among the seafood highlights. Burgers, grills, and snacks round out the offering, and a kids’ menu makes it a practical stop for families.
Battered barramundi draws plenty of praise from regulars, with the crunchy coating and juicy flesh making it a firm favourite. Chips are cooked well, crisp outside and soft through the middle, and the potato cakes are a reliable order. Pineapple fritters are something of a quiet highlight too, described as a happy cross between a traditional fritter and a cinnamon donut. Dim sims also feature, and the general consensus is that the food is fresh, generous in serve size, and reasonably priced. Service is consistently noted as friendly and quick.
For those with dietary needs, the shop maintains a separate gluten-free fryer, a practical touch that is not always easy to find at a Traralgon fish and chip shop. Gluten-free options are available across the menu. Wheelchair-accessible parking and entrance are on site, and card and mobile payments are accepted.
The Fish & Chip Shop opens for the dinner run from the afternoon, so it suits a weeknight meal or a quick lunch without a lot of fuss. Phone ahead during busy periods to keep wait times down.

Lovely staff, fresh delicious food, I love the battered barramundi, so crunchy and juicy.
The potato cakes are also good, but if they are thicker, which would be better.
Definitely will come again if I have a chance to come to visit Traralgon.
Get 5 stars for having a seperate GF fryer, 3 stars for taste.
It was fine, portions were fine, tasted fine, nothing to write home about. Pretty bare bones space, white walls, a gaming machine, drinks Fridge. Nothing bad but nothing great?
A bit to salty though. Had some fried fish, deep fried fish, calamari, chips… was way to much salt for my taste, so unless you’re a smoker, ask for the sodium on the side or get them to cut it in half.
The worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. The place wasn’t even busy, yet it felt like they just scraped up the chips that fell out of the basket, tossed them in a box, and sold them to me. The size of the barramundi was a joke for $11.90 a piece. Half a box of chips, and the potato cakes tasted like they were a week old.” Very disappointed It was the first time and the last time I’ll be going there
Fish was generous and cooked very well. Chips were crisp on the outside and soft inside. Potato cake was eaten first. Service was very quick. A great lunch.
Excellent pineapple fritters. What we usually get is all excellent. The fritters are a very happy mix of traditional fritter and a cinnamon donut. Just our opinion though. The potato cakes and veggie burgers are all tasty too. The staff are consistently lovely. Sometimes we arrive close to their end time and can’t order as they’re already cleaning, but no worries as we will be back another time.
Bought fish and chips here today by phone order. Ready on time. Gluten free options. Nicely cooked fish. Chips and dim sims ok. Can eat in as there are several stools to sit on but really only a take away. Plenty of off street parking. Prices reasonable.
Perfectly cooked fish, chips, potato cakes and dim sims. Service is great and price is reasonable.👌🏼
Absolutely the worst fish n chips we’ve ever had. How they can charge the prices they do for such rubbish is beyond me. 😡
