About
Morriss Road Fish Shop has built a strong reputation as one of the most reliable fish and chip shops in Warrnambool, drawing a steady crowd of locals, visitors, and university students alike. The menu is built around what a good chippy does best, and the kitchen executes those fundamentals with real consistency.
The flake is widely regarded as the highlight, battered lightly so it stays crispy without feeling heavy, and the chips come out crunchy and well-seasoned every time. Potato cakes are another firm favourite, known for their crunch and full flavour. Calamari and scallops also feature on the menu, and the house-made tartare sauce has attracted genuine attention in its own right. The Blue Grenadier is another option for those who want something a little different from the flake.
Morriss Road Fish Shop is women-owned and has a warm, welcoming feel that suits families well. A kids’ menu and vegetarian options are available, and the shop is accessible, with free parking directly on site. Takeaway is the main format here, with orders moving quickly even during busy lunch and dinner periods.

Simply the best fish and chips in Warrnambool, served by the friendliest family! We couldn’t fault the food or service. So tasty it was already half gone by the time I got my phone to take a picture.
After reading reviews, thought we would try them out. Pretty disappointing really. Food tasted great but quantity of chips was bad. Photo was for $5 worth. Based on that would need to order $30 worth to feed a family.
Wish the barramundi was slightly more seasoned but other than that it was pretty good! The scallops, calamari and fries were fantastic as well. Can’t wait to come back again 🙂
Clean food, fresh and absolutely delicious.
Best fish and chips in town by far, here’s a photo of our remnants (-:
Food was generally pretty good, the fish was exceptional, the chips were good although needed a tad more salt, the gravy was very mid not a whole lot of taste. The chicken souvalaki could have used some extra salt on it
Tried this place today & was not disappointed! Flake & Blue Grenadier was crispy & flaky, potatoes cakes were crunchy & full of flavour & chips were just right. The home made tartare sauce was absolutely delicious. What a great find in Warrnambool!
Definitely the best chippy I have had in Australia! 10/10 food and really nice staff, would highly recommend.
Beautiful battered flake; the chips and dim sims were spot on too. Great friendly service.
