About
Ashby’s Fish and Chips has built a strong reputation among locals in the northern suburbs of Perth, with many regulars calling it the best fish and chip shop in the area. Located within the Ashby Village shopping complex alongside Farmer Jack’s, it’s a convenient spot that draws a steady crowd at both lunch and dinner.
The batter is a clear point of pride here. Regulars rave about how light and thin it is, staying crispy even after the chips and fish have had time to cool, which is no small feat for a busy takeaway. Portion sizes are generous and prices are considered fair, making it a solid choice for families. Deep fried oysters have earned a devoted following and come highly recommended by those who visit regularly.
The venue is family-friendly with wheelchair-accessible facilities and free parking in the shopping complex car park, which makes a visit straightforward for most. Payment by card or mobile is accepted, and no reservations are needed, so it’s easy to drop in. During busier periods, phoning ahead for takeaway orders is a smart move.
Phone ahead during the dinner rush to avoid a wait.

This fish and hip place is in the Ashby shopping complex, on the side of the Farmer Jack’s supermarket.
I really liked the fish and chips here! The batter was really light and thin and stayed crispy even when it cooled down. The pieces of fish were thin too, there was a good ratio of crispy batter to fish. The fish itself was fresh and flakey and the chips were well fried, the kind that are all mostly short fat chips. The meal came with heaps of chips.
We got the fish and chips for three with one of each – dimsim, pineapple ring, and crabstick. The batter stuck really well to these, I noticed especially with the pineapple, they must have really dried it before applying the batter. We also got the curry sauce and mushy peas. Both were great.
Bought $4.00 worth of chips here tonight and was shocked with what I got. I cook my own fish at home so just wanted chips. The portion was tiny and way less than what I get for $4.00 at Chippies in Carramar.
I feel like I was robbed to be honest. This place does not provide value for money at all the the small size of chips is a piss take.
Will never ever go to Ashby Fish and Chips again. Much much better options elsewhere.
Used to absolutely love this place! but this is $5 worth of chips now! Will definitely not be going back! Banksia grove is so much better. they’re putting prices up soon and dropping the portion sizes at the same time… joke
Best fish and chips in the northern suburbs. Friendly service is second to none. This super busy little business is located in the Ashby Village. Their deep fried oysters are our all time favourite, highly recommend!!!
I’m on the hunt for crispy chips old school
Crunch – they were ok but not delicious.
They needed 3 more more minutes. And the fish was overcooked. But that could
Be my fault as I ordered over the phone to pick up. I was told 20
Minutes so it could have been sitting in the Bain Marie for longer than 10 minutes before I picked up. the gravy was good.
Just had snapper and chips tonight was over cooked & chewy couldn’t eat it! Sorry but you need to know also not very hot very disappointed waste of money
After a few disappointing fish and chip locations, we decided to try this place. Boy we were thrilled, this place is INCREDIBLE. The taste, the portion sizes, the price. All 10/10, couldn’t recommend highly enough!
We will absolutely be back!
Amazing food, reasonable price, and very good service.
