About
Augusta Fish & Chips is a well-rated fish and chip shop serving the Augusta region of Western Australia, and it has clearly earned a loyal following among locals, tourists, and visitors passing through. With solid four-plus stars across nearly 900 ratings, the shop consistently delivers on the things that matter most: fresh fish, well-cooked chips, and generous portions at reasonable prices.
The menu leans into what the region does best. Whiting, bronze shark, gummy shark, snapper, calamari, and scallops all feature regularly, with the fish known for being notably fresh. The fried dim sum is a standout item that regulars specifically seek out, and the batter on the fish is praised for being light and crunchy rather than heavy or greasy. Chips are well-cooked and served in satisfying portions, making the value here hard to argue with.
Gluten-free chips are available for those with dietary needs, and the relaxed, casual setting is well suited to families, with a kids’ menu on offer. Dine-in and takeaway are both available, the venue is wheelchair accessible, and card and mobile payments are accepted, which makes things easy for visitors to Augusta who may not be carrying cash.
Groups, day-trippers, and repeat visitors alike seem to find something to like here. Phone ahead during lunch and dinner service if you’re ordering for a crowd.

I ordered the whiting and chips ($23).. it came with 4 pieces of whiting, tartare sauce and chips. Fish was fresh and well cooked – very pleasantly suprised with four pieces! Batter was very light and crunchy. Chips were well cooked – not soggy even after 15min. Highly recommended
I feel the fish and chips here are way better than Fremantle. Loads of choices and better value. Not too commercialised and very local.
Bronze Shark and the whiting fish are amazing! The scallops are so delicious and good! Calamari could be better
The best fish & chips I’ve ever had! The fish was amazingly fresh – the staff who took my order mentioned it was caught straight from the river just behind the shop. The taste was unbeatable, so fresh and delicious. I’ve never experienced fish this fresh before. Definitely will come back again!
Food served here is fresh. I ordered the squid and it was excellent. We also ordered the gummy shark (first time eating shark) and daily special was fresh snapper. So good! Young gal who worked the counter was helpful, polite and hardworking. I watched her do a good job while customers were cranky and sulky… she kept on going.
Had a pink snapper and chips. Very nice the fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was crispy and not too oily. The potato scallops were a great way to top the meal off.
Excellent and super fresh fish and chips! We ordered the rock cod and chips, along with scallops, nuggets, calamari and a bit more. Highly recommended!
Hands down best chips I’ve ever had absolutely beautiful. I also had the bronze Whaler which was lovely. I just wish they’d slice it and do two Pieces instead of one huge piece and I did tell them that their website needs changing because It says four pieces of fish, which I didn’t expect to be massive, but I expect FourSmall pieces and that’s not what you get but as for quality best Fish & Chips I ever had 😋
The young boy who served us was so friendly. We have a coeliac and asked about the chips being coated in flour and they made the chips gluten free for us.
As we were waiting for our order the boy had a chat with us about the town. Cannot recommend this place more the price and serving size was extremely generous!
Excellent place!!!
