About
High C’s Fish and Chips is one of the more distinctive fish and chip shops you’ll find in Coolbellup, blending a genuine love of opera with seriously good seafood. The owner’s background as an opera singer has shaped the shop’s personality from the ground up, right down to the cartoon fish mascot Snapperoti, a nod to the legendary Luciano Pavarotti. It’s a fun concept, but the food is what keeps regulars coming back.
The chips here are the real deal: crunchy, hot, and full of flavour without a trace of sogginess or excess oil. The seafood is cooked to order and consistently well received, with squid rings and fresh fish drawing particular praise. Portion sizes are generous, and the pineapple fritter with cinnamon is worth singling out as something a little different from the usual chip-shop fare. The owner brings genuine warmth and hospitality to every service, and the shop has built a well-rated reputation across a solid number of visits from the Coolbellup community.
High C’s offers takeaway and delivery, with free parking available both on the street and in the nearby lot at the older section of Coolbellup Shopping Centre. The shop is open Wednesday through Sunday for dinner, so planning ahead is a good idea. If you happen to feel like chatting opera while you wait for your order, you’re in the right place.
Phone ahead during busy dinner hours to avoid a wait.

The owner is a friendly person with good customer service and hospitality. Chips are crunchy, hot and full of flavour. They weren’t soggy nor oily. Seafood is cooked to perfection and tasty.

Having read an article about the owners background as an opera singer, we hoped the food was going to be on song. BOOM! Great bloke who serves fresh n crispy fish and chips and good portion size to say the least. We also noticed the generosity he showed to those less fortunate. We could not resist the urge to chip in and shouted him a drink. Thank you for a lovely evening. We will be back to repeat. It’s a Tenor out of ten for us.
The pineapple fritter with cinamon is great. A lovely large piece of fish crispy chips and very nice sqid rings. I recommend High C. If you like to chat about opera it is the place to go.
So happy to have a proper fish & chip shop practically on my doorstep! I’ve only tried the small serve so far, but it was spot on. The fish was fresh, the batter was light with just the right amount of crunch — and not a hint of grease. The chips were golden and very munchable too. Service was polite and friendly. Only gave 3 stars for atmosphere, not because anything was wrong — it’s clean, tidy, and exactly what a corner fish & chip shop should be. Nothing fancy, just good honest food done well. I’ll definitely be back… probably more often than I should admit 🐟🍟😋
I spend close to $90 here for my family of 5 only to be missing half my order. I asked while I was there if everything was in there he said yes came home only to find food missing and the gravy was more like flavored water. When called he was very dismissive about the whole thing and wouldn’t listen at all. Very disappointing especially after waiting all day for the place to open
I only ever get chips but Great & very generous. Also staying open a bit later than the rest helps for when you have to work late as I often do. Can’t fault anything & would recommend this gem of a place to anyone
They were so bloody friendly. I have a ridiculous amount of salt on my chips – and they happily drowned my chips in salt for me. Will def go back. Good vibes and good chips (I didn’t order fish).
