About
A1 Blue Bay Fish n Chips in Halls Head is one of those spots that quietly earns a strong reputation without making a fuss about it. The shop runs as a fish and chip takeaway with a Polynesian restaurant twist, which makes the menu more interesting than most. Dine in, grab a takeaway, or have it delivered, the options are flexible and the setup suits families, groups, and anyone passing through the area.
The menu draws consistent praise for generous serving sizes and quality that regulars say rivals anything else in Western Australia. Shark and calamari are firm favourites, and the batter gets called out for being light and tasty rather than heavy and greasy. Scallops also get a mention, with portions described as impressively sized. Beyond the classic fish and chips, the shop carries Polynesian-influenced dishes including a chicken curry that has surprised more than a few first-time visitors. Doughnuts round things out on the sweeter side, warm and yeasty, a genuine point of difference from a standard fish and chip shop.
Service is quick and friendly, and the shop is family friendly with a kids’ menu, vegetarian options, desserts, and catering available. It is wheelchair accessible with free parking on site, and the foreshore is close by if a sit-down outside appeals.
With a well-rated track record across a solid number of reviews, A1 Blue Bay is worth checking out for anyone near Halls Head. Phone ahead during busy periods to avoid a wait.

Food had a strange flavour to it, fish batter was soggy and chips were very bland and not crispy at all. Quite disappointed in tonight’s dinner 😣 Good amount of food for the price but quality wasn’t up to scratch unfortunately and we couldn’t eat it.
Food was amazing, the Shark and Calamari were my favourites. Great portions, kids were even happy. Quick friendly service. The wife and I are keen to try everything else on the big menu too. Thanks Kahlimn.
Very underrated little fish and chip shop. Their serving sizes are very generous and the quality of food is amazing. Nice and close to the foreshore so we were able to drive down and have lunch on the lawn.
Tried a doughnut for the first time
Had fish and chips and bought home a chicken curry for dinner
WOW being the first time tasting the doughnut. It was a warm yeasty sweet bread

All round what a hidden gem. The staff so friendly and the food just wonderful
Beautiful food, like the best iv ever had in Australia, cooked well and u give all the scallop, big flex that is, everything was delicious thank you, just a couple of things, we were missing a fish and chip order i was supposed 2 get 2 but only got 1 and i think the girl on the front was new cause she didnt really know much about what you were selling, i understand everyone has 2 start somewhere, just thought id mention it for constructive feedback, your location is nice and off the road too and close to the beach which was great.

Meitaki Ma’ata! My partner and I drove around Mandurah comparing snapper and chips and A1 Meitaki BlueBay Fish and Chips were the best by far. Massive piece of fish and crunchy chips, we added fresh mussels on the chef’s recommendation. We’ll definitely be back to work our way through the menu.
Has been on our list to visit and we’ll need to go back and try more from their menu as well as the other island dishes.
Fish were great, decent sized, nice chips, battered mussels 🔥🔥 Love a good nz hotdog as well! Kuki donuts were yum as they always are!
The cook was also trying out Jimi Jacksons Retros in the slushie machine 👌🏼
Also loved hearing the kuki sounds!
