So disappointing. This was our second visit here. The first time was great, lovely food and great service! This time, the chips were chewy, like they had been reheated and mostly scraps. The fish should have been spanish mackerel but was flavourless. Consistency is key! Was $27 for 1 fish and chips and a portion of chips. It is expensive to say that most of it went in the bin. This has meant it will be some time before we return (if at all).
Oh dear, this was disappointing. Ordered the Tues special of Scampi and chips, opted for british chips. Plus a sausage in batter which turned out to be a saveloy type rather than British type, tasted awful, should specify on menu that it is a saveloy, especially if they are trying to attract british customers.
Now for Scampi, as you can see from photo, the inside certainly didn’t contain a prawn, might be a kind of prawn mush ?
Chips were poor, cut too thin and far too much salt applied.
There are much better british chippies around, save your $$$
Really disappointed. We drove 40 minutes because we’d read that they sell English-style chips — honestly the quickest way to end up feeling even more homesick and physically sick. The chips were awful, if we’d eaten in the shop we would’ve handed them straight back but sadly we had driven to a beach. They were basically all grease and just not edible – clear from the colour in the picture. And to top it off, we realised we were overcharged by $10.

Delicious homemade chips, crispy fish and good portions! Not sure why the recent reviews are bad but we had a nice meal.
Great fish with proper takeaway chips & curry sauce. Have eaten from Hooked several times & have been consistently served great food with good portion sizes

Hands down the worst, most APPALAING fish and chips I’ve ever had. Completely tasteless, soggy/slimey mess and when you could taste it, it was the stench of metallic tasting old fish. ZERO flavour, the batter was sad and greasy, the fish was old smelly and grey and the chips were limp and cold. Also did they eat half the chip portion before packing it? What’s the go with the small handful, you serious??? If it wasn’t take away, they would have been handed right back.

To make it worse, it was outrageously overpriced for what can only be described as a total disappointment. I genuinely feel ripped off. These photos are worth $56.42. If you’re charging premium prices, at least deliver something edible. We tried when they first opened and thought we’d give them another chance, how can they possibly be worse and by miles.
What a rip off, everyone returned their food back in the box and into the bin. I’d give zero starts if I could. Never again!!!
Ordered twice in the past month as the British chips and sausage is amazing! This is a medium chips and the portion is insane. Taste, quality and quantity have all been awesome.
