I’ve never tasted fish and chips like Bayside before. We got 2 sauces but hardly had it as all the flavours were in the food.
Your fingers and plate weren’t dripping In oil and the squid rings were perfect. First time eating a squid ring that wasn’t rubbery. The fish was divine, it was so soft and tasty.
The owner/cook was absolutely lovely and so were the boys who were serving us.
I live half an hour away and I will be making the trip to Bayside for fish and chips.
Oh also, we dined in and the way the food came out on the plate was so nicely done.
I highly recommend Bayside Fish and chips. It’s worth the drive.
As Kiwi’s, the bar is always set pretty high for a quality piece of fish. Since we moved over last year, no-where has hit that mark. Until tonight. We grabbed a few pieces of NZ Hake in Gluten Free crumb & chips, in one of their great packs they offer. The crumb was golden, crunchy, and flavoursome. The fish, holy hecka! DELICIOUS! How good it was to actually enjoy a piece of fish again & not get a sore tummy after because of stupid allergies. The Hake was fresh, moist but with just the right amount of flakiness. It was honestly just perfection! Hubby isn’t even a big fish eater, and he devoured heaps. We got the ‘Two & 2 (family of 4)’ pack with GF crumb: 2 Large Hake, 2 small Hake, 3 scoops of chips = $40 ($38 normal batter). We’re a family of 2 adults & a 13yo big eater & couldn’t finish all the chips! So great value for money. It’s also BYO which is cool.
The atmosphere is an awesome chill vibe. Fun little outdoor area. The staff are great. Really friendly, and even when busy, still make time to have some yarns with their customers. We dined in around 5.30pm on a warm Sunday night. They had several orders to get through. We waited only about 15 minutes for our order & dined in. Really cool vibe to their outdoor area. Small, but spaced out so you’re not eating right next to other people. Definitely try their home-made pickled onions too 😋 Reminded me of my Nans. Best F&C our family has had since relocating from NZ. Will become a regular for sure! Thanks Team.
Bayside fish shack is a hidden gem the Atmosphere and service is like a warm hug.

I ordered the works burger and a seafood basket for my son.
I must say my burger was visually appealing not to mention its size was impressed just like the good old days when burgers was two hands full.
the beef patty was freshly made and not store bought and just like that in no time I couldn’t stop eating it tell it was gone.
One of the best burgers I have had in a long while I highly recommend this one. now to the seafood basket the serving is a decent size for the price,The chips was nicely cooked with that crunch factor and a soft potato inside not to oily or dry like other chips places iv been too the fish was battered and seasoned well.
I did get to try the squid rings or anything else as my son eat it all up before I got a chance he loved the seafood basket.
But all in all grate little place with good serving size for the price and a wonderful Atmosphere

The most delicious seafood n chips Ive had! Light crispy tasty batter, all perfectly cooked. Fantastic service, really friendly owner came out for a chat too. You should be very proud. A brilliant chill vibe, nice music, great ambience, modern beachy decor. Perfect guys👌🏼

Great ambience, INCREDIBLE food and great pricing. It was so nice to go to a restaurant that caters for coeliac dietary requirements as well. The customer service is so genuine and kind too. Definitely the place to go to when in Shoalwater. Will 100% be coming back for more delicious food 🐟 🍟
Not been in a couple of months. Ordered 2 lots of fish and chips and a gf crumbed fish and chips. Smallest fish ever in all servings. One piece of fish was chewy and inedible so seagulls got it. If was closer would have taken that piece back. Honestly, extremely small portion size and we are not big eaters. The fish we ate was lovely but couple of bites and gone. Chips not crispy but looked burnt which was weird. Won’t be back in a hurry sadly.
My crumbed fish burger was amazing, succulent perfectly cooked fish and nice soft bun and fresh salad. The service was great and the staff quick to complete my order. The place has had a good uplift definitely the perfect location to come down with the family and enjoy a nice meal
First time trying out Bayside fish shack we ordered a fish burger and seafood basket the fish burger was one of the nicest one I’ve had and the seafood basket was cooked to perfection and well presented and the produce tasted good quality !
Staff were very friendly and very attentive!
