About
Florey Take Away is a casual neighbourhood spot in Florey, serving up the kind of reliable, affordable food that keeps locals coming back. The menu covers the classics you’d expect from a fish and chip shop in the Australian Capital Territory, with battered fish arriving in generous portions and chips that come out crispy, with chicken salt available for those who know what they want. The blackboard menu is a nod to the old-school takeaway tradition, and the occasional tweaks suggest the kitchen isn’t afraid to keep things fresh.
The pizza offering has earned a strong following in its own right. The dough is handmade, producing a thin and crispy base, and the topping combinations lean a little more adventurous than the standard fare. Think Thai basil on a Hawaiian, and other combinations that work better than they sound on paper. Regulars rate the pizzas highly alongside the fish, nuggets, and chips.
Florey Take Away is family friendly, with easy wheelchair access at both the car park and entrance, and free parking available nearby. Delivery and no-contact delivery are both on offer, making it a convenient option when you’d rather stay home. Service is purely takeaway-based, straightforward and quick, which suits the lunch and dinner crowd just fine.
This is a solid local option for anyone in Florey or the surrounding ACT suburbs. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to keep things moving.

“THE WORST TAKEAWAY FOOD IN CANBERRA”
I grew up in Florey and always had fond memories of Florey takeaway I think “Eddie” was the guys name. He was always friendly and the quality of food was always great..
Today Florey takeaway is “the worst takeaway in Canberra” The staff are rude and the food is garbage. the scallops had more batter then potato and the chips were horrible. It all ended up in the bin. How can you run a takeaway and not even know how to cook chips and scallops.
The take away store is old and a bit run down and presentation of the fish and chips isn’t fantastic but don’t let this cloud your mind on the taste of the pizza and chips they made. I really like the GD Supreme pizza 🍕 as it’s good value for money and tasted great. There is a thin base but I can taste the crunchiness which was great. Chips with the chicken salt area also very good. They have been around for over 20 years and there is a good reason why. Regards @fooderarri
Their new pizza menu is amazing. Honestly wonderful, old school pizza on amazing bases. Haven’t let us down yet !
Chips with chicken salt are always a winner. We also had battered fish the other day which were huge pieces, and delicious. Gravy is top notch. One of our favourite places for takeaway.
Brought a battered sav and chips. The food was horrible. The sav battered was way under cooked and the chips were terrible and over salted to the Max. Asked the lady to try it and see what I was complaining about. Her reply was don’t eat it if I didn’t want it and walked off to the back. Will never go back and advise others to look for better options as the food was terrible. Oily undercooked and very expensive
We highly rate their chips, nuggets, fish, and especially pizzas! They use handmade dough which gives a lovely thin and crispy crust, and they have some really interesting topping options (like Thai basil on their Hawaiian, it works really well). They are also typically fast. Recommend a visit!
Absolutely awful 😞 the chips were barely cooked, completely cold and had no salt. The food tasted stale, cold, undercooked and for the price was an absolute disgrace.
A great local spot for a quick meal. The food’s always fresh and tasty, the chips are crispy, and the staff are friendly. It’s a nice place to grab dinner or a snack without spending too much.
The blackboard menu is full of take-away-shop classics, but smudges here and there suggest that it gets tweaked now and again.
