We went here for a work Christmas lunch and it was so lovely! Perfect place by the lake and the yachts, great atmosphere. We ordered the half dozen oysters and fish pack for 2. The size of the oysters were on the smaller size but I think that just depends on their batches, but the portion sizes for the fish and chips was huge (as seen in the photos). We were had to take our time to finish it all! Very delicious fish, in our opinion battered was better than crumbed. Also got an iced coffee and a vanilla milkshake to wash things down. We went on a Sunday but it was so busy and full of people, so the food took over half an hour to come out. Overall it was a pleasant experience and we’d come back again.

Beautiful lakeside location with plenty of outdoor seating. Perfect for groups, families and even those with kids.

Cheeseboard was okay. Prosciutto that was chewy and hard to eat so i’d skip that. Kids had battered fish which they seemed to enjoy. Hubster got pork belly burger but it was a bit dry and lacked flavor. The Barramundi was very good though and cooked nicely. Meat was tender and didnt need a lot of seasoning. Wish the fries were a bit crispier though.

but again, beautiful location and away from the hustle and bustle and had really good service from staff during our visit. The ladies were very kind and were so patient with the kids.

🐟 Finally made it after bookmarking it ages ago!

It’s a bit out of the way, so I kept putting it off. But with today’s beautiful weather and some free time, I figured it was the perfect chance to go check it out.

I honestly expected just another standard fish and chip shop. Thought it’d be plain and nothing much to look at. But turns out the place has a pretty chill vibe. Inside is casual and relaxed, and outside you get a gorgeous view of the lake facing Black Mountain. Can’t complain about that. 👏🏻👏🏻

Just don’t go in expecting service. It’s a self-serve setup. You order on your phone, find your own table and grab your own cutlery. 🫣

Now the food. Really not bad at all!
Today’s fish of the day was Red Cod. I got it battered, and it came out with a thin, crispy coating and juicy, flaky fish inside. Tasted fresh and was cooked well.

Also gave the fish burger a try. The bun was pan-fried in butter and tasted absolutely delicious. 😋

The potato scallops were pretty standard. Basically shredded potato and onion in a batter. Not bad, but nothing to rave about.

My only question is that if the parking is free or not ?

Not a bad place to sit and enjoy the surroundings while having some F+C. We had a share plate for 2 ($49) and a whipper snapper serve ($14). Came out quickly, service was good. Squid rings and prawns were nicer than battered fish. Chip portions were huge. The place was kinda retro – like a restaurant from the 90’s, but in a good way. We were told we could only have take away packaging if we ate outside and plates/glasses/cutlery if we ate inside. 🤷‍♀️

Absolutely the best fish and chips in Canberra! The fish is always fresh, perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside. Chips are golden and crunchy, not greasy at all. Great portion sizes and friendly service. Highly recommend if you’re craving classic fish and chips done right!

Rode our bikes here from Kingston and stopped in for some lunch. We were not that hungry and shared a battered fish and chips with a can of coke zero and Sprite.

The food came out relatively quickly, as it was a bit quiet on a Monday afternoon. The fish was nice and was well prepared. The chips seemed to have been previously cooked and reheated. The views are nice and it was a nice place to visit if you want an easy, slow afternoon.

This is a nice restaurant hidden away in greenery with views of the river. The fish was chips was pretty good. The fish was nice and fresh. The chips were inoffensive but pretty boring. It was also somewhat on the expensive side. I will try out the other options next time.

I’m so upset that Snapper has decided to go down the route of music blaring at the entire outdoor eating area at lunchtime during the week. There were only 2 groups seated outside and, no surprise, as far away from the speakers as possible.

We could not have a conversation and ended up leaving and went to the cafe next to the Yarralumla nursery where we could hear each other.

This used to be one of my favourite places to bring visitors for lunch as it was so peaceful and such a great location with great food.

But now they want the “trendy bar of a Friday night” vibe at lunch.
