About
Blacksmiths Take Away is a classic fish and chip shop in Blacksmiths, NSW, the kind of place that feels increasingly rare in an era of fast-casual everything. The focus here is traditional, unpretentious, and done well. Hand-cut chips, fish cooked in a light crispy batter, and crumbed calamari that comes out tender are among the reasons regulars keep returning. Portions are generous, and the shop has a reputation for throwing in a little extra without being asked.
The menu leans into old-fashioned fish and chips done properly, with fresh seafood battered in-house. The calamari is a consistent favourite, and the chips are the real-deal hand-cut variety rather than frozen. Pricing is considered good value for what arrives in the bag. The staff are friendly, and the shop is known for handling large orders when other places simply can’t or won’t.
Blacksmiths Take Away operates as a takeaway-only venue, so there is no dine-in seating. It is family-friendly with a kids’ menu available, and free parking is on hand both on-street and in the adjacent lot. The shop accepts credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments. Solo diners, families, and tourists all find their way here for lunch and dinner. With a solid four-plus star reputation across a healthy number of reviews, it has clearly earned its place as a well-regarded spot on the New South Wales Central Coast.

If you love experiencing a classic Aussie fish & chip shop, this is for you.
It’s rarer to find places like this anymore. Fresh seafood – battered in house, generous portions (even free lemon for the fish) & friendly customer service.
The owner was so friendly & looks after everyone who comes in. I’ll be back for sure.
Pre Ordered 60 fish cocktails and 7 large chips.
First place closed on a Sunday mind blown.
2nd place order was too big couldn’t do it they turned down our money.
Last place I rang was blacksmiths takeaway, It should of been the first place I called it will be next time if I have a big order.
The communication over the phone was easy as and it was ready for a 1pm pick up like they said. The food was still hot the fish cocktails where very big in size compared to other stores, very happy with the food the chips weren’t the best cut and could of been cooked a-bit longer but what do you expect the line was out the door when we picked our food up, and it was a big order for a little take away shop over all my family Christmas in the park was a breeze thanks to you guys fairly priced would order from you guy again.
Food is fresh and delicious. Old fashioned fish n chips is delicious and very well priced. Hand cut chips. Fish has a light crispy batter and the crumbed Calamari is tender. I was given extra Fish and Calamari. Generous serves. It’s a must for a feast by the water.
Good ole fashion service, fish and chip. Both were cooked well and high quality fish and chips. Very tasty. We’ll be back for sure
What a gem this place is. Wonderful, cheerful
service, fresh fish in an exceptionally good batter, and praise be to the potato Gods, fresh chips, not frozen. Old school vibe, smells great, a blast from the past, and the prices surprisingly good. A really nice, kind woman behind the counter, so accommodating and warm, cooking up a storm. Well done, I’ll definitely be back
These are the best chips I have ever had in over ten years, possibly some of the best I’ve ever had in my life. I’m usually not a big eater but I ate nearly all of them. And I got alot for $11 worth. The pluto pups were the best I’ve had in ages too. I’d highly recommend this place.
Dissapointed.
Was hoping to have a good local fish and chip shop but what i recieved was overpriced, oily, yucky fish and chips.
Was over 17 dollars for a very small serving of chips 2 scollops and 2 cocktail fish.
Chips were also undercooked to top it off.
Missed the mark on this batch of chips very oily and the dim sims seemigly made in store, were extremely undercooked. Couldn’t eat them. (Medium chips, 6 patato cakes dim sims $37)
