About
Something Seafood has built a strong reputation as one of the most talked-about fish and chip shops in the Shoalhaven region, drawing visitors from Sydney and beyond who make the drive to Callala Bay specifically for the food. With extensive local following and consistently high marks, it’s clear this is no ordinary takeaway.
The signature Something Seafood pack is a crowd favourite, and the Sea for Two pack offers genuinely good value, comfortably feeding a small family without breaking the budget. The menu extends to tempura prawns, calamari, and grilled options including grilled king prawns and grilled fish, giving plenty of variety beyond the classic battered serve. The batter across the board is consistently praised for being light and crispy, and the chips are known for having a satisfying crunch.
The shop offers both dine-in and takeaway, with outdoor seating available for those who want to settle in. A kids’ menu makes it a solid choice for families, and live music creates a relaxed, social atmosphere that feels distinctly different from the typical fish and chip shop experience. Service is warm and friendly, which regulars mention just as often as the food itself.
Waits of 30 to 45 minutes are common during busy periods, so arriving with a little patience, or phoning ahead, is a smart move. For anyone in or around Callala Bay, Something Seafood is worth planning around. See opening hours and current menu details below.

I randomly came across this shop on Google Maps and it was a great find!
The food here was really good! We ordered the fish and chips, fish cocktail pack, and tempura prawns. The fish was fab, and the batter was light and crispy. Remember to ask for chicken salt for your chips. Delicious!!
It was alright and we arrived close to closing. Friendly service but food was pretty ordinary and cold and we live local. . Maybe we got what was left. Chip portion was tiny. Two fish and chips and six prawn cutlets for $64 not worth it. Shame as it is our only local chippy.
Best FREAKING fish and chips in Aussie (by far!) we really do love the calamari, grilled fished and grilled king prawns too! service is great and warm too, really enjoyable and would LOVE to come back again please. Do order the DEEP SEA PACK $32AUD 👌👍
The fish and chips were amazing!! Best I’ve ever had and we have tried many (living in Sydney). Fish had a light batter and melted in your mouth, chips were nice and crunchy.
So sad that we live 2.5 hours away otherwise we would be coming back way more often for those fish and chips 🙂 also they were really well priced to. Was less than $40 and fed a family of 4
Lovely service and lovely spot.
Just short of 5 stars as the batter was a bit under cooked and fell straight off with zero crunch to it.
Other than that, the piece of fish was delicious and the calamari was spot on.
Highly recommend if you’re in the area visiting 🙂
Awesome food and great value for money. Definitely won’t disappoint. We got the sea for two pack which fed 2 adults and a 2yr old – Only $33. After recently moving to the area, it’s great to find a good quality takeaway shop. We will definitely be returning!!
Not only are they open, but their fish n chips really hits the spot!! The food is fresh, the batter so fluffy and everything so tasty. It’s the perfect meal to complement the beautiful beaches nearby! Such kind and friendly service too!! Can’t wait to try everything on the menu!!
Nice shop, fresh food and on the higher quality for fish and chips however quite expensive for what you get.
