About
Hungry Seagull is a casual fish and chip shop on the Callala Beach strip, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner to locals and visitors alike. The menu leans into classic Australian takeaway territory, with burgers as the clear highlight. Described by regulars as old-school milk bar style, they hit the mark for anyone after something hearty and no-fuss.
The hot chips are a consistent draw, seasoned generously with chicken salt and served piping hot. Fish offerings round out the menu alongside the burgers, and portion sizes are noted as solid value for the price. The owners bring a warm, personal touch to every visit, the kind of place where a friendly chat comes with the order and flexibility is extended to anyone who needs it.
Hungry Seagull offers takeaway, dine-in with outdoor seating, and delivery, making it a handy option for families in the area. It is wheelchair accessible and suits diners across age groups. Cash is preferred, though card payments are accepted, so it pays to come prepared.

We were starving and there isn’t much in the area to eat so we went here. Steer clear is all I’ll say. Frozen store bought everything and it tastes cheap and nasty. The fish was unidentifiable as fish and the lady serving wasn’t particularly friendly. Do your self a favour and drive a little further.
They won awards in 2019 but they sure have gone down hill since then!! Just like Sean Mackenzie said 7 months ago we totally agree!! The lady serving wasn’t particularly nice, cash only, expensive, $31 for unrecognisable fish with tasteless chips and two ice creams, fish and chips seemingly overcooked in old oil.. poor array of ice creams in the freezer but the ice creams were fresh!!
Century 21 next door were having a free sausage sizzle, we should have given our fish to the cat and eaten the sausage sandwiches!!
Like Sean said, I advise too that you take the time and drive a little further – a fisherman on the beach said the club has good food at a reasonable price.
Maybe they had a bad day, it was late and rainy..
Chips were great classic chips, covered in chicken salt so good. Burgers were great – also like a good old school milk bar burger. Prices were reasonable too. Lady serving was lovely to us, I feel like whoever got attitude from her might have been rude themselves ! lol
Only had hot chips but the vibes here are great – very classic Australian takeaway. Friendly staff. No vegetarian burger I could see on the menu. Cash only!
Down here on holidays from Sydney and found this little gem. The service from the owners is fantastic, love to have a chat and so welcoming. Been there everyday for the last week and today tired the burgers and they were amazing,a real old school burger with a tasty patty and oldschool buns. Rate these guys 10 out 10.
Stopped here for takeaway after visiting some local look outs. Not overly friendly service, but the food was piping hot and tasty. We ordered fish cocktails and were given more pieces than ordered, calamari- very tender, chiko roll, potato scallops and chips, all dusted generously in chicken Salt as requested. All wrapped up, old school style in white paper. We ate it at a local park and demolished the lot.
They only take cash, which was fine with us, but may be a problem for some.
Went there for lunch and I had no money cash also the owner tell me bring money tomorrow and she gave me food what a best person . And the food was soo good and customer service was so good .
Steve and the Serbian queen make the best chicken burgers in Australia
