Best and top quality fish and chips!!! We stopped at Huskisson just for this Fish and chips store after reading/words of mouth about their food – and it was truly well worth it! Grilled barramundi was the finest and others too ! Lastly, New Zealand hoki fish remind me the tastes of NZ too! And their service was exceptionally outstanding!! Recommend!!
Stopped by Husky Fresh Fish & Chips after seeing all the glowing reviews. It’s a cozy little spot with a relaxed, seaside vibe—feels like a humble family-run business which is nice. We ordered the local flathead, grilled salmon, and fish cocktails. The flathead was excellent—crispy and fresh with a generous portion. The grilled salmon was tasty but very thin and pricey. Sadly, the fish cocktails were too greasy and we couldn’t finish them. Chips were pretty good though. Maybe it was just an off day, but overall the food didn’t quite live up to the hype for us.
I live in Sydney but come down to the south coast whenever I can, I’ve always walked past this place quite a few times but never tried the food. But last time I was in the area I noticed that Nowra Fresh provides the items at this store so I thought I’d give them a try and omg the best fresh fish I’ve ever tried. It was so fresh and tasty, I’ve never tasted anything like it before.
The shop was small, but it’s only to order your food/wait. It was a rainy wet day, so a lot of the tables under the cover where already taken up and the tables that were situated more out the front with umbrellas over them where covered in water, so my friend and I just decided to sit in the car and eat out lunch.
I’ll defiantly be back again sometime soon, ps the gravy and chips were really yummy as well.
Edit: was here last week and the food is still the best. Fresh and tasty, I purchased 2 crumbed calamari and 2 fish cocktails for $8.60. Both were delicious. When I’m in the area I’ll defiantly be back.
One of the few places in Huskisson that actually sells fresh fish and chips (another I visited had fish dated 5 days old for sale). $14.90 for the fish I got was ok, not cheap but not crazy – and it was really nice.
The $ upgrade for chips/meal isn’t worth the extra cost at all in my case, I wish I had of just got the fish.
So excited we’ve discovered this place! Up until discovering Husky Fresh Fish we were wondering why a coastal town didn’t have and actual “FRESH” fish and chips shop…the place up the road is OK but wow this place is the best! My husband and I were delighted to discover they had whole baby snapper…for anyone who knows what fresh whole fish looks like, the eyes are usually giveaway! We ordered 2 grilled snappers with salad and can honestly say it was perfection! Well done Husky Fresh Fish…can’t wait to go back!

Super fresh calamari and chips. The chips were delicious. Price was good for a tourist place but ketchup was a charge of $1 and $2.50 for tartar sauce. Would be nice if ketchup was free and added to the cost of the meal.
