About
Billy’s Fish n Chips is a casual dine-in and takeaway spot in Warilla, New South Wales, serving up the kind of menu you’d expect from a solid suburban fish and chip shop, with a few surprises thrown in. Alongside the classics, the kitchen turns out potato scallops, battered saveloys with a garlic butter dipping sauce, chicken burgers, chips, and small plates. There’s also coffee, alcohol, and cocktails on offer, which makes it a touch more versatile than most.
The venue is family-friendly with a kids’ menu, and the setup is wheelchair accessible with free parking. Card and mobile payments are accepted. It suits a quick solo lunch or a casual sit-down dinner with the family, and no reservation is needed.
Feedback from regulars is a mixed bag. The battered saveloys draw real praise, with the garlic butter sauce mentioned as a highlight worth ordering specifically. Service is generally described as fast and friendly. On the other hand, some visitors have noted that chip portions can lean on the smaller side, and the chips themselves have occasionally come out on the softer end rather than crispy. It’s the kind of place where experiences seem to vary visit to visit.
Worth checking out if you’re after something a little different from the usual Warilla fish and chips options, particularly if the saveloys or chicken burgers appeal. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to keep your wait time down.

Terrible experience, bloke tried to over charge for the burger additions then cracked the shits when he was called out on the overcharging, plus didn’t get the burger orders right and did not salt the chips. Once we took all the crap off the burgers that were ordered plain, they were half decent, but will not be coming back and do not recommend going here.
Rude bloke, slow cook. 1/5
Only go if you have money to waste and no one is actually hungry, portion sizes are the smallest I’ve Ever seen and I’d like to say the quality makes up but it just doesn’t
fast and friendly service! chicken burgers are great and they tend nicely to account for allergies. chips were on the soggy side though sadly
I went in today and asked for $20chips, 3 fish cocktails and 8 scallops. He let me know he didn’t have 8 there, so I asked for what he had left which was 6. I waited for my order to finish and another customer came in and asked for scallops he said yes, i don’t know how many he asked for so I didn’t think anything of it. He gets his order before I do and leaves. I go to collect my order and they said they didn’t have any scallops. So obviously they decided to give the scallops I paid for to someone else. Then had the gall to ask if I wanted my $6 back.
I get home and the $10 chips was enough for 2 kids leaving my and my husband to find something else to eat. I’m so frustrated and will never return there again.
I usually love supporting local fish and chips shops but my recent experience here was really disappointing. Most of the workers weren’t wearing gloves and were handling the food directly which made me very uncomfortable. The owner was eating while working which is just unhygienic. The chicken on my burger wasn’t cooked properly, it was undercooked and unsafe to eat. To top it off, I found hair in my food which is unacceptable. I can’t recommend this place unless they seriously improve their food safety and hygiene standards.
Service was good but that’s where it ended. I ordered the grilled fish and salad. The fish was so raw. I also ordered the flathead but got hoki instead. The chips were hard and cold. Salad was good though
Ate our fish and chips order here, took our potato Scallops (potato fritters back in SA) back to our motel for a later snack.
Got some potato scallops and battered savaloy’s today. Service was excellent. Food was super tasty. The best battered Savaloy’s ever! The garlic butter sauce was delicious, superb for dunking!
Thankyou. 😊😎
