About
Brighton Seafoods is a casual fish and chip shop serving the Brighton area of Brisbane’s outer northern suburbs, open for both lunch and dinner with dine-in and takeaway options available. The shop has outdoor seating and accepts card and mobile payments, making it a straightforward stop for families and anyone after a quick, affordable feed.
The menu leans into classic fish-and-chip-shop fare, and the potato scallops have built a following among regulars. Portions are noted as generous for the price, and the shop draws a crowd that appreciates its no-fuss, budget-friendly approach. Staff are consistently described as welcoming and good-humoured, which goes a long way in a neighbourhood local.
Opinions on the food itself are genuinely mixed. A portion of the crowd finds the fish fresh and the chips well-salted and satisfying, while others have found the batter oily and the chips falling short. The shopfront itself is on the modest side. For those whose visit lands on a good run, Brighton Seafoods delivers exactly what a fish and chips shop in this part of Brisbane is meant to deliver, straightforward, cheap, and filling.
Dine-in seating is available and the shop is family friendly. Phone ahead during busy dinner periods to avoid a wait.

We went pass and turned around. It’s these little fish and chip shops that are the memories of newspaper wrapped fish an chips. We both ordered and headed down to the shore which was a 2min drive from there.
Crumbed fish and the chips were cooked as they should and tasted great. The oil tasted fresh as did the fish.
Prices are good and we enjoyed the quick lunch. If we pass there again we will get another fish an chips. Thanks.
Cheap and nasty fish and chips shop. Can’t really say anything positive about it. Presentation needs improving. Go elsewhere. You get what you pay for here.
Incredible experience! There’s no better way to spend a Thursday lunch than a picnic with a friend. The fish and chips from Brighton Seafood Cafe are exceptional! I highly recommend this spot, just a short walk from Sandgate beach. It’s an old-fashioned takeaway that offers much better prices than other fish and chip shops in Sandgate. It’s incredibly convenient! I always look forward to visiting here and enjoying time by the water at Sandgate. 💦
Cod with fries are something amazing! For 8 dollar you get big portion of tasty fresh fish in breading with perfect salted fries and quartel of lemon. Genius combination!
Happy Fulla, amazing smile, makes us feel welcomed 100% of the time and has a great sense of humour. CERTIFIED PIMP!! 🔥🔥
Absolutely disgusting food. Huge waste of money. Shop is filthy. Food was dripping in oil, weird after-taste. Definitely not fresh. Avoid. Do not recommend at all.
Thought I’d try a Steak sandwich here – just don’t! The steak was ? Soaked in beetroot? (But no beetroot on sandwich..) “Zingy”- texture soft but omg questionable. The meat was red, but cooked? Just wrong! Couldn’t eat it. Apparently the potato scallops are good here, but they weren’t available. Chips were ok.
This place is so good! Great fish, such good chips!!!
