About
Kingfish & Chips has built a solid reputation as a favourite fish and chip shop on the Gold Coast hinterland fringe, drawing regulars from Jacobs Well and beyond with its focus on fresh, quality seafood. The menu leans into what a proper fish and chip shop should do well: crumbed and battered fish with a light, crispy coating that avoids any hint of greasiness, generous serves of calamari, prawns, and potato cakes, plus scallops that long-time locals speak highly of. The fisherman’s basket is a standout order, arriving hot and well portioned.
The calamari is a signature here, consistently noted as fresh and tender. Fish is available in both crumbed and tempura batter styles, cooked to order and seasoned well. Chips come out hot and flavourful, which sounds simple but makes all the difference. Share boxes offer solid value for families or groups looking to make a meal of it.
Dine-in and takeaway are both available, and the shop is family-friendly with a kids menu on offer. Outdoor seating and a waterfront proximity add to the appeal for a relaxed meal. Wheelchair access is available.
One thing worth keeping in mind: wait times can stretch during busy periods, so placing your order ahead of time during the dinner rush is a smart move for anyone making the trip out to Jacobs Well. With well over four stars across a healthy number of reviews, it’s clear this fish and chip shop has earned its following.

What a great little fish & chip shop outstanding quality & service had a fisherman’s basket which was fantastic had the pleasure of meeting the owner who started the business from scratch 7 years ago what hardworking young man hats off to you Zack keep up the fantastic work 😎🇦🇺cheers Michael
Very yummy fish n chips! Cooked to perfection and the flavour delicious! $30 for a share box, and great value for us.
Ordered a platter, prawns and Mud Crab for Christmas Eve. Upon picking it up was told that I had to pay an extra $50 as they couldn’t find my deposit payment. Not happy but needing the seafood for that night I paid the extra $50. Get the food home and go to eat it Christmas Night and the food is all off. No wonder their online preorder forms say that they must provide the bags for the order and hand over a zippered coles bag upon collection. It is so you don’t unpack the back and see the food until you are home and it is too late to return. So not only did I get ripped off by being charged extra, I also had no food to serve for Christmas Eve Dinner. Do not order from here if you want fresh edible food.
To update….the store did call me to confirm my order and when I said I had paid the deposit already, I was told they would have to call me back in 10 minutes and never called back. I have also sent an email with a shot of my transaction showing paid. Still waiting for a reply. If I get a satisfactory outcome I will update again otherwise my review rating will stay the same.
Delicious fishnchips. Very fresh, lovely light crispy batter. Calamari was fresh and melted in your mouth, fish was cooked beautifully in tempura batter and potato scallops the best I’ve had for years. Highly recommend and wish they could give lessons to other businesses. I live on an island with 5 fishnchips shops and none of them compare.
Generous portions, the calamari and fish were fresh and well seasoned nice and hot as well. Same as the chips they tasted great and were also hot when i picked up the order. Will definitely be coming back here.
Clean, fresh and a friendly team.
Food was amazing and the kids loved it too.
First time we went today and we shall return!
Great little walk to the water and enjoyed our lunch.

We had this for dinner and ate it on the waterfront. Was a lovely experience. The food was delicious with fair servings, but 15 dollars for fish and they still expected us to pay more for tartare? Not super cheap, but the taste is good at least–I always have crumbed fish so I’m not sure about how the battered fish is, but the crumbed fish was not at all oily or greasy, which was a bonus. The fish and the chips were delicious, but no cod on the menu? It took nearly an hour for our food, even though it wasn’t very busy. I understand it seemed understaffed when we went, but still, 1 hour for 2 people is ridiculous. The atmosphere is lovely on the waterfront, until someone ruins it with a loud car. The shop is across from the water, so you would be better walking over, as the atmosphere outside the shop itself isn’t great. Would come again. Would recommend.
I ordered food worth $60 with family combo with 1.25 liters drink included
As they had only diet coke of 1.25 liters .My kids dont like diet coke and i requested for alternative and they only gave me to choose 2 small cans(no fanta options) of drinks or only 1 600mls fanta. My 2 boys love Fanta and requested 2 600mls drink which she rudely denied. This would have met the combo drink requirement .
I am not eating for free and paid money for the food ..
I came out with only 600mls fanta as the lady in front desk sounded rude with no empathy towards customs
I came to the shop as it was recommended by my fellow Kiwi
Food quality was good!!
