About
Kinka Kippa is a fish and chip shop on Queensland’s Capricorn Coast, right in Kinka Beach, drawing in both locals and visitors passing through the area. The venue covers dine-in and takeaway, with counter service, table service, and outdoor seating for those who want to sit and stay a while. Families are well catered for with a kids’ menu and high chairs on hand, and the bar serves beer, wine, and spirits with happy-hour deals available. Free parking, wheelchair-accessible facilities, and Wi-Fi round out the practical side of things. Reservations are accepted, which is handy for groups or a planned lunch stop.
The menu leans into classic fish and chips territory. Battered fish and potato cakes are popular picks, and regulars note the chips come out well when the kitchen is on form. There are mixed opinions about portion size and seasoning, and pricing sits at the higher end for the area, so it pays to check the menu before ordering. Quick, easy ordering is a consistent plus mentioned by visitors.
For anyone exploring the Kinka Beach and Yeppoon stretch of the coast, it makes for a straightforward dine-in or takeaway option. Phone ahead for larger groups or busy dinner sittings.

The absolutely WORST take away fish and chip I’ve ever bought. Grilled reef fish, no taste and size was no bigger than your hand. Chips soggy and some undercooked. Don’t waste your money, drive to the causeway, at least it’s a decent size and cooked properly.
Two serves of the photo for $45, an absolute joke. Definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Food was lovely
Bit too salted for my liking …we weren’t asked if we wanted salt
Parking out the front is a post box and a bus stop …. parking out the back
Expensive ..pic below was over 45 dollars !!!
Kids working there were lovely , keep up the great work fellas
So I like to always be honest with my reviews and I had to give one for this place straight away. Firstly on the only good note they were quick and easy to order and understand. Now if you see my photo below the two pieces of mackerel were tiny one of them was half the size of the other and very much over cooked and dry. We ordered a half and full serve of chips and this is all we got. I have never spent $43 and received such a small amount of food. It’s a shame as I was looking forward to some nice fish and chips. I would not recommend unless you want overcooked fish and very little food for your money.
Was tired after traveling all day , thought I would grab a bite from here , that was a bad decision , I ordered the rissole meal , meant to come with mash potatoes and steamed veg . When I picked it I had to ask why there was no mash and veg just two rissoles on a pile of chips and a sad salad , was told they were out of mash and veg . I get that happens but you need to tell the customer when they order , after being told it was only “one small mistake ” I wasn’t happy but paid it because I just wanted to eat and go to bed , got back to east it and had a good look at the salad , it looked like they scrapped the salad from the bottom of the composite bin , all the ingredients from the sale were shriviled and well past the used by date , pushed that to the side and picked up a rissole , it was over cooked on the outside and mushy in the middle , clearly had been sitting around well past it’s used by date , really seemed like it was precooked then left in the fridge for a month just to be reheated and slapped in m my meal . Did not feel safe eating it as it seemed like it would make me verysick , had a few chips they seemed ok but after seeing the rissoles I felt eating any more of this meal would be taking my life into my own hands , would not recommend to any one that doesn’t want to be poisoned…… Update , if the owner is the staff member I delt with its very bold of them to make that response , if they were not the staff member there Tuesday night the 18/11/25 then I suggest they speak to them as that is completely untrue , and does not even me tions serving well pass it’s prime food
Very disappointed is our best reaction. The young lady that served us was pleasant enough. But for $47 we thought we’d have more than enough food. We went to order potatoes scallops, she had to go check if they had any, as they were in the process of making them, this was very unorganised considering we were ordering at 1230pm on New Years Eve. Busiest time of the year stock should be topped up before the lunch rush. We ordered a kids cheeseburger meal as it was advertised to come with a slushie to be told at payment, no slushie available. The half serve of chips that was served up was the same amount that came out with the kids’ meal. The food wasn’t $47 worth, and the oil probably needs changing as we were left with old oily after taste. The eating area needs a tidy up, the garden area needs a good make over, if not for comfort for customers, then at least for asthestics.
Worst customer service EVER!!! Appalling, packaged some of our meals all together and some separately. Ordered 3 x kids meals and 2 x seafood baskets. Packaged 1 x kids meal and 2 x seafood baskets all together.
Packaged 2 x kids meals both separately. Got home. Realised that the 2 x seafood baskets were packaged together. But only received 2 x kids meals. Rang them, stated we didn’t receive the 3rd kids meal and could you start cooking it so we can come and get it. Lady on the phone apologised and then said she would get it started. My husband went back down to be told that the 3 rd kids meal was packaged in the same paper as the 2 seafood baskets? 🤯
My husband accepted this but didn’t realise that both families had already eaten the seafood baskets whilst he was down the road picking up the missed children’s meal!! I called once my husband got home to let them know my son has had no meal since we didn’t know his meal was randomly packaged in with our seafood baskets. The lady on the phone argued with me for 10 minutes!!! Saying pretty much too bad. At the end of the phone call she agreed to remake the 1 kids meal that was missed. Told me it would be 20 mins. Drove down after 20 minutes for the 3rd time!!! The guys behind the counter was so ignorant and rude! He stormed out from the kitchen and argued again about how he wouldn’t be making it again! He hadn’t even started the meal!!! By this time it was 1 hour after the whole family had eaten and one of my sons had not!
He reluctantly remade the kids meal after lots of arguing and then told us to pick a drink from the fridge. I asked why? He said because all kids meals come with a drink but NONE OF OUR OTHER KIDS MEALS CAME WITH DRINKS
appalling service, over priced and ruined our whole family meal. DO NOT RECOMMEND
At $17 for a fillet of ‘reef fish’ you would expect it was going to nice but it was dry and overcooked. We ordered two Seafood baskets for two families (paid separately) and the food was all piled into one bag so no one knew whose food was whose. The young girl behind the counter was lovely but service from the other two employees was below average. They were argumentative and unfriendly. We chose your restaurant as the only takeaway meal for our trip to Yeppoon as it was close by to our caravan park. Really wish we had not. It left a bad taste in our mouth leaving to go home. Would not be recommending your business. I rarely leave reviews but in this instance felt it was warranted.
Tumbled into this place whilst sightseeing the area. The battered fish was magnificent not greasy potato scallops (cakes/ fritters) large and crispy, chips cooked perfectly.
There is a seating area outside.
Pricing was a little bit more than we usually pay but I guess you pay a little extra for great food. (Plus it was tourist season) Well worth trying out if you are in the area.
