About
Lucky Fish is a well-regarded fish and chip shop in Palm Cove, Queensland, drawing a strong following from locals, families, and visitors alike. With dine-in seating and takeaway both on offer, it suits everything from a quick lunch to a relaxed dinner out. The venue is family-friendly, with a kids’ menu and wheelchair-accessible parking, and it opens across the week for lunch and dinner service.
The menu is built around fresh, quality seafood and a few standout items that regulars keep coming back for. The Lucky Box is a crowd favourite, and hand-cut potato cakes are frequently praised. Barramundi features on the menu and is noted for being thick, fresh, and full of flavour. Calamari is another popular order, and the Super Salad rounds things out for those after something lighter. Vegetarian options are also available.
One detail that genuinely impresses visitors is the gluten-free offering, with battered fish cooked in a dedicated separate fryer. It is an unusually considered option for a fish and chips shop and one that sets a high bar for inclusivity without compromise on taste. After a beach day, this place is definitely the perfect spot to enjoy good food. We ordered the Lucky Box for two with a side of extra calamari. We almost ordered a chicken meal from the menu too, but thanks to the cashier’s suggestion, we just ordered the Lucky Box — which was definitely enough for two people and we really enjoyed it! Especially the prawn cutlets — they were so good. This is a must-visit place in Palm Cove!
Ordered the Lucky Box $36 AUD. It was a huge serving, more than enough for 2 of us. The fries and shrimps were really good. The calamari was just ok. However the barramundi fish wasn’t fresh. It tasted very fishy and the flesh was kind of mushy so we threw it away after a few bites.
We settled on the Lucky Box with the addition of an Asian coleslaw.
Great decision.
Fish (2), chips & prawns tasted great.
The Lime Pepper Calamari was the star of the show. Wow, delicious.
Satisfying serving size at an appropriate price point.
So good! Grab a ‘Lucky Box’ & head down the beach. Hand cut potato scallops also great!
Gluten free fish and chips! Better still, BATTERED fish. And even BETTER, all cooked in a seperate fryer?!! Why this isn’t up in lights on their menu board is beyond me. What a selling point. Plus it was absolutely delicious. The Super Salad was one of the yummiest I’ve eaten. And was the perfect accompaniment to the fried elements.
Best fish and chips I have in a while. The fish is really fresh! Love this little local store!
The best fish and chips I’ve ever had. We got the lucky box, 2 potato cakes and super salad between 2 adults. Everything was so yum and fresh, the fish was barramundi and it was thick and juicy and so fresh.
Great fish and chips shop with an amazing view of the ocean while eating. Fish was fresh and chips were super crisp.
