Amazing experience here. The food was very delicious and the customer service was extremely great. The woman who owns this business helped my group and I out with out order and was extremely loving. Thr homemade tartar sauce was spectacular in my opinion. Haven’t had tartar sauce as good as this one here previously. Overall very good experience.
Food was delicious and the portion size was very generous. The battered sweet potato, fish, potato and veggies were great.

Ordered the seafood dinner for two for only $33 and boy was it a massive serving!

We had crumbed and battered cod, more crumbed squid then you could poke a stick at, chips, and potato scallops.

All of the food was spot on with just the right amount of chicken salt. We are big eaters buy struggled to get through it all even though it tasted amazing!

The lady that served me was lovely also.

💯 recommend this place if you are in Mt tambourine.

Chips were very old, tasted putrid and soggy, they went straight into the bin. A part of our order was missing and the “tartare” was aioli. I would have hoped the chips were going to be good since they didn’t have the items we originally wanted to order. Not a very pleasant first experience here 🙁

The staff however were absolutely lovely.

Came for a Saturday lunch with my partner. Such a warm and welcoming experience. Greeted with smiles! Very generous portions matched with great pricing. The food came out scorching hot in no time! Would highly recommend. Great spot for the local area

Bad old deep frying fats used!!! Classic brown coloured chips that droop soggy when picked up all equates to bad old frying fat shortening. Any chef knows this look and why it occurs. Yuck!!! Waited a while to get order to our table so I expected fresh cooked seafood and crunchy fresh chips especially as we were eating in. No excuses now as this is third time we as locals have been served this rubbish. We don’t eat fatty foods often so when we do and splurge a lot of money (as it’s expensive) we are wanting something really nice or even ordinary will do… This just BAD!!!

    Update
Further to response from The Local COD father; I have recorded our conversation regarding the food served and Vat frying procedures.
We ate some of the seafood as it was expensive and we were very hungry, however we felt ill afterwards. Happy to post our conversation with your permission. Your comments regarding this is funny as you describe below is extremely disturbing, especially since this is a food safety/food quality issue and I’m further disgusted by your comments regarding this is funny. Also many wrong assumptions in your response, also see photos of your products preserved for molecular testing in Laboratory.

    Original review:-
Really Bad Really Bad change of frying fat causes really bad brown coloured Chips that are soggy almost immediately.
I approached the Person serving at the counter to educate the owners about when it’s time to throw out old vat fry oils and replace. I was shocked when they admitted to bad fry replacement procedures and measures.
    Unbelievable!!
We are locals and this is the third time in 2 months it’s been so horrible.
Please instead Go to the Tamborine mountain Dinner across the street and there chips and everything else are perfect.
Everyone should know that the Classic brown coloured chips that droop soggy when picked up all equates to bad old frying fat shortening.

Also Tartared sauce was curdled and lumpy as if old or not kept cold enough!

Bowls club around the corner is also much better.

Can’t believe what they admitted to me….. crazy excuses and knowingly so!!!

Been going here for years now & This place has progressively gone down hill.
The chips are nothing short of disgusting, old, soggy & brown, obviously using old frying oil which is just completely unacceptable & frankly simply disgusting.
Fish, potato scallops, everything being cooked in this same oil is barely edible. It’s sad because they are the only fish & chip shop on the mountain.
    Really really disappointed.
Do they even read these reviews as a small change in actually changing their oil regularly would improve things greatly. Obviously just trying to save money but compromising quality is just not worth it.

Dog friendly with a lot of seating. Works burger was well filled- always get one when we stop by. Fish and chips always done nicely- chips salted well and crispy. Great customer service when we called to place an order and when we arrived to pick up.
