About
FACT Takeaway is a well-regarded fish and chip shop in Mount Gambier, drawing in locals and visitors alike with a menu that stretches well beyond the standard battered fare. Grilled barramundi and butterfish are the standout seafood options, and the kitchen also turns out fish packs, AB packs, yiros, and a burger range that regulars speak highly of. A salad bar adds something a little different, and the kids’ menu makes this a practical choice for families.
The menu covers a lot of ground, from hot chip packs and grilled chicken to crumbed prawns and flake with batter that hits the mark. Gluten-free options are available, and vegetarians will find something to work with too. Dine-in and takeaway are both on offer, and the venue is wheelchair accessible and accepts reservations, which is handy for groups passing through the South East.
Food quality and value come up consistently in what regulars report. Meals tend to arrive fast and hot, and the pricing sits at a point where most visitors feel they’ve done well. The burger range in particular draws strong praise, with combinations like chicken schnitzel burgers stacking up to be proper, filling meals. That said, experience can vary a little depending on the time of day and how busy the kitchen is, so ordering ahead during the dinner rush is a sensible move.
For anyone exploring Mount Gambier and looking for a solid, varied feed, FACT Takeaway is worth a look. See opening hours and the full menu below.

Came in for date night and got the chicken snitz burger combo added a pickle and pineapple, was very good priced and food was amazing best burger ive had in long time worth trying
First time at Mt Gambier so we took that food gamble and agreed on fish and chips … And yes there’s a few to choose from . We went with Fact takeaway and weren’t disappointed .
I had grilled chicken with veges and chips . Hubby had seafood basket veges and chips , daughter went nuggets veges and chips and our friend got the fish with veges and chips .
All 4 dishes were large and well cooked .
No one could finish their meal .
It was 7.30pm on a Saturday day night and packed with customers .
Staff stayed friendly and polite even though they were busy .
Store inside and out was clean and well presented and there is quite a lot of parking available.
Highly recommend giving them a try if you’re in Mt Gambier , we will definitely be back .
The person who took the order was fidgeting with her hair and face, really looked like we were an inconvenience to her being there.
Flake was very nice with good batter, crumbled prawns and Scallops also nice but chips were dry, threw most away.
After spending $49 we won’t be going back..
Went today and got 3 salads, seafood, curried egg and a Greek salad, 2 out of the 3 were terrible, the seafood was very nice but the curried egg was overdosed with curry it was inedible and the huge chunks of egg did not help, the Greek was a little bit worse with the oversized chunks of tomato a few olives some fetta and enormous serving of cucumber, the dressing did not help. Have been a couple of times and cannot fault the burgers they were delicious.
All around amazing experience. Food was fast hot and of amazing quality and value, if this was not 6 hours from my home I’d eat here,,, a lot. Even was able to get some nuggets for our pup.
All the food was burnt, fish abd crab sticks were dry and burnt which my partner had, quiet disappointing for $46. Very pricey.
Customer service was friendly.
Took 20 mins to get meal. I ordered fish pack. I found it average compared to places im use to south of Adelaide. Haven’t found decent fish chip shop in town yet.
Love the food, however the menu is very confusing. They have two prices for the hotpacks
I ordered the entree size and thought it was 15 dollars. They charged me $18.50 when I asked they said it was because one was a bigger portion than the other, however they have big packs aswell… so not sure still what the difference is. As it isn’t specified on there menu.
