About
Bridge Takeaway is a casual fish and chip shop in Murray Bridge, South Australia, serving the local community and visitors alike for lunch and dinner. The shop is wheelchair accessible with free parking on site, and no reservations are needed.
The menu covers the classics you’d expect from a solid suburban takeaway, and the fish burger in particular has drawn plenty of attention from regulars and passing tourists. Chips are a strong point and have been known to catch attention well before you reach the counter. The venue is family friendly with a kids’ menu, making it a practical stop for parents with young ones in tow.
Reviews from the Murray Bridge area are generally positive, sitting at a well-rated level across a decent number of visits. Portion sizes and consistency draw occasional comment, as they do at most busy suburban shops, but the food quality comes through as the main draw for repeat visits. Staff are noted as helpful when it comes to guiding customers through options and sizes.
Card and mobile payments are accepted, which keeps things moving efficiently during busier periods. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to keep wait times to a minimum.

Blunt service.. and honestly for $40 the chips were cold and unsalted and the chicken went to the dog it was dry as heck with no seasoning on it at all. Not even sauce was saving it. Not happy with any of it to be honest.
Would have been better off going to Cole’s for a hot chicken and cooking the chips myself.
Was shopping nearby in the evening and smelt the delicious chips from across the parking lot so I wandered in. Wanted chips but not sure what size and the nice woman serving helped out. Asked my name for my order and I sat and waited. Was lucky to have my order be done within minutes and she called out my name, I grabbed my chips and off I went. They were nicely seasoned and fresh and just delicious. Nice clean business and the 2 staff that were there were nice and friendly. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu.
Ordered the veggie burger this evening. Used to be a favourite under the previous ownership. The patty is now a very cheap low quality frozen diced carrot and peas affair, complete absence of raw onion, carrot, and missed most of all, the beetroot relish that used to make this and enjoyable and excellent value option. I hope this kind of messing with a winning formula, assumedly in the interest of cost cutting, isn’t going to be the new normal for this establishment. If so I think they are making a grave mistake. Disappointing.
Have the size amount of the chips changed? As i went in Saturday just before 12am and got my usual chook and minimum chips and got handed this. When i got home this was about 2 handfuls worth. With every other purchase of minimum chips there was enough to feed me, my lartner and my 2 kids. This is less than half of what i have gotten for $5 before and this has been a regular purchase through out the last 12months, at least. The young lad there was quick to throw a fellow employee under the bus by saying they were generous with the chips but he was quick to be quiet when i said that ive never received that amount from any of the employees over the duration of me visiting the shop.
Normally the food we have picked up from bridge takeaway is pretty good. However I was a bit surprised when I got fish and chips this time. Before I got home I had received a phone call to say I needed to be careful as there might be a knife in my order. Luckily there was no knife, but found fish which had been packed with not much care, which is really sad, considering what you are paying to have a take away treat.
Grill tonight- fish burger was best fish burger I’ve ever had. Yummmmm, bigger lady frying and yelling was too busy yelling and yelling everyone off, so had wayyyyyy tooo much salt on our “only a bit” of salt chips, literally caked in salt…. Also onion rings were still pale yellow and completely raw, so disgusting had to spit it out, also Yiros was completely yummmmmm 100% recommend the grill items!
Came here tonight for the first time with my brother after hearing so many people rant and rave about how good it was, being so hot we didn’t want too cook. However was greatly disappointed in the food. Chips were cold and un seasoned, hotdog but almost appeared to be stale and not very pleasant. Mix up on order, which resulted in missed items. Really sad and disappointed in how this turned out, my brother ended up very unwell, requested a refund. Wouldn’t come back.
Sad to see that such a great takeaway shop has gone downhill so quickly under the new owners.
Ordered for my daughter & myself tonight through uber eats, and it will be my final order from Bridge takeaway.
Simple order of a burger & raspberry fanta, and fish & chips with salad & a vanilla Coke.
Order arrived with 2 cokes, soggy lukewarm fish & chips, no salad, no salt on chips, and half cooked bacon on the burger.
Order was placed & recieved well before the busy dinner rush, so no excuse there either.
