About
Captain Chicken and Seafood is a casual fish and chip shop serving Salisbury Plain and the broader northern suburbs of Adelaide. Open for lunch and dinner, the venue offers dine-in, takeaway, and delivery, making it a flexible option for the whole family.
The butter fish pack is the signature draw here, regularly praised for generous portions that genuinely fill the plate. Chips come golden and crispy when fresh from the fryer, and the gravy gets a mention for being flavoursome and a good match for the chips. The menu covers a solid range, including half chicken and salad packs, kids’ meals, vegetarian dishes, and salads, with halal options available across the menu. The shop has also handled large catering orders, coming in early on a Sunday to prepare 35 chickens for a local bowling club tournament, which speaks to a willingness to go the extra mile for community groups.
Feedback on fish quality and pricing is mixed. Some regulars feel prices sit a little on the higher side, and chip quality can vary. That said, the shop draws a consistent crowd, with reasonable wait times even during busy periods and staff known for being friendly and welcoming.
Free parking and wheelchair access make the venue easy to visit. A family-friendly atmosphere keeps it popular with households across Salisbury Plain. Phone ahead for larger orders or during the dinner rush.

Good hot chips, flavoursome gravy and a good range of additions to help cover all tastes. Prices are up there a little bit, I guess considering all things going on in the world at the moment?
$16 Absolutely 💯 value, I got butter fish pack and it was a very good portion, I put on plate when I got home and it certainly filled my dinner plate. The flavours were great , chips golden and crispy on the outside, light and fluffy inside , fish batter golden and crispy, seafood salad delicious and caesar salad yummy. If you’re near drop in and give them a try.
We ordered 35 chicken for our Bowling Club Tournament on a Sunday. They came in early to accommodate us. The chicken was hot and succulent. Well done Sam and team
Chips brown and oily think they need to use better oil or change there oil more frequently…
Foods great, everyone’s always been friendly. It’s become my local chip shop feed
Local resident and walked past this shop for years to buy similar in Foodland. Salads looked good but taste average and full of seed oils. Chickens no better than Foodland, infact dry after 1 day and had to throw away 1/2. when will someone be brave enough to produce healthy good quality food?
Great food, good prices, reasonable wait times for food to be cooked, can get busy but I think that’s a good sign as lots of people are using this place.
I visited here around 5pm on Sunday. Not too busy. I was number 35. I was watching them put food in the warmer and figured it was phone orders. Numbers higher than mine were getting called out which I thought odd. Once 39 was called out I approached the counter and said “I think my food is in the warmer” the owner completely ignored me and yelled NEXT to the girl waiting to order. The lovely girl said umm I think this ladies order is in the warmer… he says are you number 35? Yes. So he shoves it at me and continues to serve her. I don’t understand. First and last time here.
