About
The Foreshore is one of Burnie’s best-known spots for fresh seafood and classic fish and chips, drawing a steady crowd of locals and visitors alike with its broad menu and relaxed atmosphere. Open every day from breakfast through to dinner, it suits everything from a quick solo lunch to a longer sit-down with family or a group. Reservations are recommended for lunch, especially on weekends.
The menu goes well beyond the standard fish and chip shop fare. Flathead, flake and chips, salt and pepper calamari salad, BBQ octopus, oysters, and a salmon stir-fry all feature, giving diners plenty to choose from. The smoky fish chowder has earned its own following, praised for its creamy broth, tender fish, and depth of flavour. Regulars rate the battered fish as generous value, and the calamari salad is a firm favourite among returning diners. A full bar with beer, wine, and cocktails rounds out the offer, along with great coffee.
The Foreshore holds a solid four-plus star reputation across a large number of reviews, and the consistency of both the food and the staff is something regulars mention often. Halal options, a kids’ menu, and vegetarian choices make it a practical pick for families and mixed groups. The venue is wheelchair accessible with on-site parking, and live music adds to the atmosphere on select occasions.
Dine-in and takeaway are both available. Phone ahead to secure a table for lunch.

Returning after a year, we were pleased to find that the familiar flavors and faces had not changed. Once again, the ever-friendly George provided exceptional service, and the entire team delivered great customer service. The food was nothing short of awesome, completing a memorable dining experience.
Great location with outdoor seating and a relaxing atmosphere. The seafood is always fresh and delicious, and the service is friendly and welcoming. I always enjoy eating here,-it’s a favourite local spot for a casual meal by the beach.
Fantastic food and priced well for what you get. I loved looking out over the bass straight while having lunch.
The Smokey Fish Chowder at The Foreshore Burnie is a rich and comforting bowl of coastal goodness. Infused with a gentle smokiness, the chowder blends tender chunks of fish with creamy broth, herbs, and vegetables for a deeply satisfying flavour. It’s hearty without being heavy, with each spoonful offering warmth and depth that perfectly suits Tasmania’s cooler days. Served with crusty bread on the side, it’s an ideal choice for those craving authentic seaside comfort — a dish that highlights The Foreshore’s skill in turning local seafood into something truly memorable.
Had lunch Saturday of battered Trevally, chips and salad. My friend had Salt and Pepper Calamari salad. It was very tasty and great value. On a fish and chip rating scale out ot ten, easily an 8.5. I would recommend it and will definitely go back. The staff deserve a special mention for the great service!!
Had breakfast here ( very enjoyable) and then went back for an early dinner. Enjoyed our meals. Fish was very fresh and enjoyable, everyone was very happy with the food and the service was really good. Highly recommend a visit any time of the day
Fantastic place to enjoy fish and chips.
Excellent customer service, and great food.
I had the blue travalla grilled. Delicious!
100% recommend the place
We ordered the Oyster Kilpatrick. The bacon on them was like it had been cooking for hour, well overdone. It was actually not edible. The worst l have ever had.
Don’t do it! Over $50 for a dozen.
