About
Fin’s Fish & Chips is a takeaway shop in Corio serving up a straightforward menu that covers the classics and a few crowd-pleasers beyond the usual. The signature souvlaki has earned a strong following among regulars, and the steak sandwich is mentioned in the same breath. For those after traditional fare, flake, potato cakes, scallops, and fish and chips round out the offering, making it a practical spot for lunch or dinner in the area.
Portion sizes and pricing come up regularly as positives, with many who visit noting they feel they’re getting fair value. The shop is kept clean, and staff are generally described as friendly. Wheelchair-accessible parking and entrance are available on site, free parking is nearby, and card and mobile payments are accepted. A kids’ menu makes it a practical choice for families.
Reviews are genuinely mixed, which is worth keeping in mind. Some rate Fin’s as one of the better fish and chip shops in Corio and the broader Geelong region, pointing to generous serves and well-cooked fish. Others have been less impressed, raising concerns about oily chips, soggy potato cakes, and inconsistency across visits. As with many takeaway spots, experiences can vary.
Fin’s suits those after a casual, affordable takeaway with a menu that goes beyond just fish and chips. Phone ahead during busy dinner periods to avoid a wait.

8 Reviews on “Fin's Fish & Chips”
Hands down and without a doubt the BEST fish and chip shop in Geelong. The flake is actually thick enough to see and taste, opposed to other f&c shops I’ve been to where u get a whisper of flake and all batter. Their minimum chips is $5 but more than generous and nice chips. Very clean shop and friendly staff.
Super clean, friendly staff and the fish and chips are very good. Great portion size for the price also. My new favorite chip shop.
I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt like this needed to be said because what I experienced at Fins Fish n Chips was honestly unacceptable. I went in for what I hoped would be a quick, easy dinner, and I left with food poisoning and a whole lot of regret.
First of all, the hygiene and professionalism of this place are seriously questionable. While waiting for my food, I noticed 2 young girls, they couldn’t have been older than 5 or 6, in the back of the store, behind the counter where food was being prepared. They were screaming, laughing, running around, and honestly making a complete ruckus. At first, I thought maybe someone’s kids had just come in to visit briefly, but no. They were back there the entire time, clearly unsupervised or at least not properly managed, and definitely not wearing any sort of hygienic gear or following food safety procedures. One of them was even climbing on things!
I don’t know who thought it was okay to have small children in a working kitchen, especially one that serves food to the public, but it’s not only unprofessional, it’s dangerous. It creates a chaotic environment and makes it impossible to believe that any cleanliness standards are being followed.
Within hours of eating what seemed like a basic piece of battered fish and chips, I began feeling sick. Stomach cramps, nausea, and I’ll spare you the rest of the details, but it was enough to keep me home from work the next day. No one else in my household was sick, only me, the one person who ate from Fins that night. So, it’s pretty clear where it came from.
This whole experience makes me question how this place is being run. If you’re allowing kids to roam around the kitchen, what other corners are being cut? Do they even have food safety certificates? Are proper temperatures being followed? Because after this, I really doubt it.
I don’t care how good your prices are, if I can’t trust the cleanliness of the kitchen or the people preparing the food, I’m not coming back. Ever.
Would give zero stars if I could.
Best souvlaki ever. I’ve tried a few others fins is the best. Their steak sandwich is just as good.
Food was unfortunately not very nice. Chips bland and oily tasting. Potato cakes soggy. Souvlaki drowned in garlic sauce and tomatoes were the crappy ends with the top cut out as pictured. Scallops were placed with the other food and had leaked everywhere. Very disappointing.
Generous serving it tasted that disgusting I threw it in the bin, and heated up a microwave meal. Never again
Not the bested food it cost a fortune to get shit food and cooked in the old oil
Used to be good with old owners.
New bloke burns the food. So over cooked. Never going back
