About
Nevada Fish & Chips in Corio has built a strong reputation among locals and visitors alike, drawing regulars from across the greater Geelong area with its old-school approach to classic takeaway fare. The shop is known for fresh fish, perfectly cooked chips, and a menu that leans into the traditional favourites that made Australian fish and chip shops what they are.
Potato cakes are a highlight here, with regulars rating them among the best around. Dim sims, both steamed and fried, get plenty of attention too, and the fish burgers have earned their own loyal following. The menu also covers scallops, seafood sticks, and a kids’ menu for family visits. Some reviewers report the odd inconsistency with chip size and value, though the best results draw people back week after week. The shop handles large group and work orders reliably, which says something about how the kitchen operates under pressure.
Service is friendly and quick, the kind of straightforward experience that suits a busy takeaway. Free parking is available on the street and in a nearby lot, and the shop has a wheelchair-accessible car park and entrance. It is takeaway only, so plan accordingly.
For anyone in the Corio and Geelong region searching for a fish and chip shop that still does things the old-fashioned way, Nevada is worth adding to the list. Phone ahead for larger orders during the dinner rush.

The best chips in the area, I love the giant pumpkin cakes and the fish burgers are my favourite. I’ve tried every fish and chip place I. The area and this is by far the best. We put a work order in of 10 or more and they never stuff it up and they all come out hot
Visited here from interstate. A great variety of fish species to choose from! Loved the batter. Calamari wasn’t the usual “chewy” rings, it kind of was squashed or something? Scallop tasted more watery than usual. However, everything else was amazing. Fresh chips. My fav was the butterfish.
The food is amazing and the fish is so fresh! I like the fishcake, it’s a must order one!! Definitely the right place if you want to eat fresh fish and chips
Travelled from a few suburbs away on a recommendation. Was it worth it? YES. It’s my new go-to. A true gem in the rough of modern (average) fish n chips. This is way above average – how good it was in the 80s. Even the steamed dimmies are exceptional. Potato cakes old school. superb. Even the baskets used to fry everything have that old school look. Everything tastes as good as you used to remember it. Service excellent
Food absolutely amazing! Always do the best. However either its gotten super expansive or we were charged incorrectly. My partner just paid it but our order was $26 and all we got was minimum chips, 1 flake, 3 fried dim sims and 2 potato cakes. So that seems very outrageous to me.
Old school fish and chip shop near Geelong that was truly outstanding! Fish was super fresh, potato cakes amazing, chips cooked perfectly, dim sims delicious and my son got a burger which he said was yum. We would go back in a heartbeat. Service also 10/10!
Food overcooked small potato cakes giant pumpkin cakes chips very dry very small and tasteless over all extremely poor quality and serverly disappointing especially for the price would not recommend ever they say old school fish and chips the only thing that is old about is the oil very dated fish in chio shop . Would give it half a star if they would let you . Be warned stay away
I order here at least once a week. Best fish in chips in the greater Geelong area easily!
