About
Deer Park Fish & Chips has built a solid reputation among locals in Melbourne’s western suburbs, and with well over 200 reviews sitting at four-plus stars, it’s easy to see why regulars keep coming back. The shop is known for generous serves, fresh fish, and chips that are crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Chicken salt fans will be pleased to know the staff are famously liberal with it when asked.
The menu covers all the classics you’d expect from a good Deer Park fish and chip shop, with the signature fish and chips at the centre of things. Beyond that, battered kabana and seafood sticks give the menu some welcome character, and the kitchen also turns out souvlakis and burgers that regulars speak highly of. Prices are considered fair for the quality on offer, and advance orders are handled with care, arriving hot and freshly packed even when placed hours ahead.
The shop is wheelchair accessible, with an accessible car park and entrance, and is a comfortable spot for families with kids. Takeaway is the name of the game here, with no table service. Free parking is available on site and on the street. The shop is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday, with Monday the only day off.
Worth a visit for anyone in Deer Park or passing through the west.

Unquestionably the worst takeaway experience I’ve had in years. Waited 45 minutes for food – 45 in the shop without so much of an explanation why it’s taking so long! We got given chips that were cooked 30 minutes earlier and sat there getting cold and soggy, and this bacon and egg thing. Ridiculous. There’s also a review below that also states that another customer got a bacon and egg roll like this. What’s he excuse this time?!
I ordered my family’s dinner at 12:30pm for pickup at 5:30pm. The staff were delightful, helpful and kind.
When I arrived my order was just packed, very hot and lots of chicken salt as requested. The food was absolutely stunningly delicious. Cooked to perfection. 10/10. The prices are very reasonable and definitely value for money. Their servings were generous for which we were very grateful. Deer Park Fish and Chips on Ballarat Road have an incredibly large menu selection and great prices for their ‘packs’ too. Do yourself a favour and make this shop your go to. We will.
Hidden gem in the west for fish and chips! The fish is always fresh, and the chips are perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside. Asked for extra chicken salt and they were super generous with it. Prices are cheap, quality is great, and it’s family-run! would definitely recommend if you’re in the area.
Just done with my meal, wow so nice to find a traditional fish and chips shop. Yes it’s a little gem in Deer Park. I will become a regular customer. Thanks for a great meal.
Nice fish and chip shop, good food and service, just if you call up expect a girl that sounds like a robot to answer haha
Had souvlakis for the family and I had a burger. All were cooked exactly and tasted great. Really nice crunchy chips to. Would gladly go back.
Fish and chips were excellent.
Everything tasted great and was hot and fresh. I will have to come back to my old home town more often in the future.
Couldn’t taste cottonseed oil either which is a major plus to me. 😃
Keep up the great work!!
