About
Derrimut Sea Catch Fish & Chips is a well-rated fish and chip shop in Derrimut, serving the western suburbs of Melbourne with dine-in, takeaway, and delivery options. Free parking and wheelchair accessibility make it easy for all kinds of visitors, and the family-friendly setup means it suits groups just as comfortably as a quick solo lunch run.
The menu covers the classics done properly. Regulars speak highly of the potato cakes, which have earned a loyal following over the years, and the flake gets consistent praise for crispy batter and tender flesh inside. Chips, on a good visit, come out non-greasy and well-seasoned, and the shop is known for getting the salt balance right. Gummy sharks and burgers are also popular picks, with the burgers regarded as among the better ones available from a fish and chips shop in the area. Souvlaki appears on the menu too, though feedback on it is more mixed.
Like many suburban shops, experiences can vary a little visit to visit. Some regulars note that portion sizes and pricing have shifted over time, and the batter occasionally lacks the crunch that the best visits produce. That said, the staff are widely described as friendly and attentive, which keeps a lot of people coming back.
For anyone in Derrimut or the broader western suburbs looking for a reliable local fish and chip shop, Sea Catch covers the essentials across lunch and dinner. Phone ahead during busy periods to keep wait times down.

Please take this as constructive critisism.
I went to this place as it was local and atleast 9.1klm closer than my usual fish n chip place.
However, the experience was not the same. The food, I meant the flakes, chips, dim sims, potato cakes and the calamari were cooked and taste sub standard. It was very soggy and looks been frozen for a while.
As I have seen other reviews, the owner seems to be taking notes and responding back which is good and this place have potential.to change.
If I may recommend, have a look at what your opposition is offering ie. order food from Blue Marlin in CS and compare yourr product. The price is nearly the same, they are on more premium space but the difference is I would pay $50 for a meal but would not come back to your shop for a $10 feed. You need to understand the gap if you want to remain competitive.
Good Luck and hope to come back and see this local shop thriving and changed for the better.
Been eating in this FnC shop since 2017 and no matter what others say, this is the best FnC ever! Best potato cakes, big servings of gummy sharks, nice crispy chips and best burgers you can get from a fish n chips shop, plus the owner is super cool! Highly recommended to try!! Dayuhin natin ito!
Amazing Fish & Chips with Heartwarming Service
People! I recently visited this place and had an absolutely fantastic experience! The food was great, delicious, and cooked to perfection. The fish was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the chips were golden and perfectly seasoned. The portions were generous, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. What really stood out to me was the friendly and welcoming service. The staff went out of their way to make sure I had a great experience, and it’s clear they take pride in what they do.
Highly recommend this place to anyone craving authentic, high-quality fish and chips. Keep up the amazing work, Derrimut Sea Catch! You’ve got a loyal customer in me.
The food here is sufficient to satisfy any fish and chips cravings. However, if distance wasn’t a factor, there are a few much better options in the west.
Pros: Friendly staff who know how to put the perfect amount of salt on the food every time.
Cons: Batter is somewhat soft and lacks crunch. Scallops are sometimes cold in the centre as they haven’t been fried through properly. Fish cuts are uneven throughout each slice so sometimes you get super thick and dry portions of fish that destroys the balance of the batter-to-fish ratio. Chips are very average.
Note To Management: As someone who wants to see better quality services and products in the area, I would definitely re-rate this place higher if the quality improves. I’m not sure if the local demographic would appreciate improvements if they already enjoy the food here, but creating amazing fish and chips would definitely attract people outside the area through word of mouth. I know this because I sometimes drive all the way to the eastern suburbs just to get some of the best fish and chips in Melbourne.
Paid over $5 dollars for minimum chips and received a hand full.
Chips, potato cakes and flake were sensational, not oily and very tasty.
Lamb Souvlaki however was not, the meat tasted funky and smelt weird, did not even try to finish it. Perhaps a bad, older batch but willing to try the basics again.
3 of us bought the same meals, the souvlaki was cold, had barely any meat or salad, the steamed dim sims were cold and uncooked, all the food was thrown out as it was so bad. When rang to address concerns they wanted us to bring the food back in to get a refund…. Not happy and would not recommend ever eating here.
We went to a friends house in Derrimut yesterday for lunch , she went to DERRIMUT SEA CATCH Fish and chips to get a minimum Chips so we could have some chips with the meal she had cooked for us at her home , and she came back with what was supposed to be $8 MINIMUM CHIPS !!!
Never in my life have i seen $8 worth of chips from a fish and chip shop that was not even enough to feed ONE PERSON !!!
What an absolute disgrace , i can understand prices go up , but for $8 minimum chips should have been a lot more than just a handful of chips .
Never again !!!
