About
Charlie Fish & Chips is a well-regarded takeaway spot in Sunshine West, serving up the kind of honest, affordable fish and chips that keeps locals coming back. The shop has built a solid reputation across the western suburbs for fresh-cooked food at prices that don’t sting, with regulars particularly fond of the potato cakes and the crispy, thin batter on the fish.
The menu covers a good spread beyond the basics. Flake is a popular choice, and the fisherman’s platter draws praise for its generous size and variety relative to the price. The batter is a talking point in itself, notably light and thin rather than the thick, doughy style found at plenty of other shops. Dim sims and chicken-salt chips round out the classic combination, while the lamb souvlaki has developed its own following among regulars who venture beyond the seafood. Hamburgers and steak sandwiches are also on offer for anyone after something different.
The owners are known for being warm and welcoming, which adds to the casual, no-fuss atmosphere. The shop is family friendly and fully wheelchair accessible, including the car park, entrance, and seating. Takeaway is the focus here, with no table service, though free parking is available both on the street and in the adjoining lot. Payment by card and NFC mobile is accepted.
Not every visit has been perfect, with occasional feedback around consistency, so it pays to check in on your order. For a straightforward fish and chip shop in Sunshine West that delivers fresh food at fair prices, Charlie Fish & Chips is worth knowing about. Phone ahead during busy dinner service.

Best fish & chips in Sunshine & surrounding areas. Great hamburgers & steak sandwiches too. Potato cakes are unreal.
*Edit*
Try the lamb souvlaki. It’s bloody magnificent.
Not many packs to choose from, my snapper looked like it had been ‘butterflied’ and was unfortunately over cooked, a bit too oily and the batter had a weird taste to it, the chicken garlic balls could’ve been cooked a little longer, the works burger was HUGE but not that tasty…and it didn’t have pineapple or beetroot like most ‘burger with the works’ have! Some menu items were quite pricey so was shocked to pay $98 for 3x burger combos, 3x snapper, x6 chicken garlic balls and small gravy, which was gross and gluggy! I can definitely appreciate the cleanliness throughout the premises and the friendly service 👍
The owners were friendly to greet us and ordered the fisherman’s platter. Great size and variety for the price.
Their batter was crispy and thin not like other places where you’re paying for hardly any fish but massive batter. Quite juicy on every bite and the chips were huge!
Highly recommended if you’re in the area and craving fish and chips.
Liked the combos and the 2 dollar fried chicken.
Crappy western suburbs fish n chips expect diarrhoea and smelly fish. The toasted sandwich’s 🥪 are the worst rotten tomatoes fatty pieces of meat crappy meat worst then you find in a meat pie. The people who work there nice and polite, but the food is no good I recommend going anywhere else. The food does not look like there pictures using on front window too.🤨🥸
It’s rare to find fish and chips place with affordable price and cooked fresh. Owner was really nice and friendly 😊 the box alone was $12 for flake fish, dim sim, potato cake and chicken salt chips. Plus it taste good 👍 soft drink was $2. Supporting small business
Great fish and chips/Hamburgers.
Friendly staff.
Just paid $7 for a small chips only to open and see they’re near burnt and hardly any salt. No flavour whatsoever plus the yuck oil taste after.
