About
Aegean Wave Fish & Chips brings a Mediterranean touch to the Eltham fish and chip scene, with a menu that spans the classics and a few surprises. The shop is known for its light, crispy batter, and regulars particularly favour the flake and calamari. The calamari draws repeat visits for its delicate outer crunch and tender squid, while the flake is praised for freshness and that just-right batter. Hand-cut potato cakes and well-seasoned chips round out the classic side of the menu.
Beyond the seafood staples, the lamb souvlaki is the signature dish and reflects the shop’s Greek character. The broader menu includes fish bites, scallops, prawns, fish fillets, and chicken nuggets, so there’s plenty to suit different tastes. Portions are described as generous, and the pricing is considered fair for what’s on offer.
The shop offers dine-in seating, outdoor seating, takeaway, kerbside pickup, and delivery, making it a practical choice for families and those wanting a sit-down meal alike. Service is consistently noted as friendly and quick. The space itself is clean and bright. Food quality can vary across visits, so peak times may deliver the best results.
For anyone searching for fish and chips in Eltham with a bit of a Greek-inspired difference, Aegean Wave is a solid option. Phone ahead during the dinner rush to keep wait times short.

Finally an authentic Greek run fish and chip shop. We are very impressed with the quality and freshness of the food. Nice light batter on the flake, potato cakes are hand cut, and chips are just right. Shop is clean and bright, staff/owners pleasant and friendly. No hesitation in recommending this place. We will be back soon. Thank you
Great fish and chips….Thanks!!
A step up from the old Bolton Rd shop. This appears to have an authentic “Greek” owner…. and no-one knows fish and chips better than the Greeks! Some feedback… The packaging is sensational but a little over the top! Quick, clean, polite and courteous! Winner, winner fish and chips for dinner!
Me again, have to give the calamari a shout out. That nice light outer crunch and tender squid is a hit. The flake and calamari are big winners!
I really want to like this FNC shop and have given it more chances than I should have. Unfortunately, it continues to fall short. The staff don’t want to take phone orders and direct you to the website instead, the food is average at best, and the service leaves much to be desired. The young staff clearly don’t want to be there, and it shows.
Have the owners changed again recently? So disappointed with tonight’s order. Where has the light flaky batter gone, the crispy chips?? Fish was dry too. Was amazing when it opened but nowhere near the mark tonight.
“Such a great spot for fish and chips! Everything tasted fresh, the batter was spot on, and the chips were crispy and delicious. Good prices and generous portions too. Easy 5 stars!”
Very yummy local fish and chips. Have had really friendly service each time (last visit got some complimentary cordial for a hot day). The food is great and filling as well (I find the mega meal for 1 quite scrumptious to share with my partner).
Really enjoy the food here the souvlakis especially are really nice but the chips and flake aswell are very nicely cooked, also was a big fan of the dimsims me and my mum really enjoyed the fried ones, service is also really good the employees and the owner are really nice and food is cooked pretty quickly not much of a wait time at all, definitely recommend if youre a local its a nice fish and chips shop with good quality food
