About
Fairfield Shark’s Fish & Chip is a casual takeaway spot in Fairfield, Victoria, with a well-rated reputation built largely on its daily fresh fish selection and friendly service. Blue grenadier, snapper, and barramundi rotate through the menu regularly, and the shop offers both standard battered options and gluten-free flour and crumb alternatives. Customers with dietary requirements are asked to let staff know at the time of ordering.
The signature burger with the lot draws solid praise, and the broader menu covers fish and chips, potato cakes, and various other seafood items. A kids’ menu makes it a practical choice for families. Service is generally described as quick and warm, with the owners and staff noted as genuinely welcoming.
Some regulars do flag that pricing sits a little higher than nearby competitors, and there have been occasional notes about inconsistency with chip texture and batter. That said, a number of patrons travel well out of their way to return, which says something about the loyalty this Fairfield fish and chip shop earns over time. Free street parking makes a visit easy enough. Phone ahead during busy periods to keep your wait short.

We used to live around the corner from this place. Fish and chips is a staple in our house and 2 years later we haven’t found a better one where we moved so we still travel the extra distance to go back to our favourite. Consistently good. My fave is the crumb on the grilled fish. Delicious.
WOWWWWEYYYY blimey this place blew my socks off… truely! the blond and the short man was so friendly! had a great burger… was very satisfied. I highly recommend and make sure to say a hello to the lovely staff. Happy travels everyone!! :)))
Excellent fish and chip shop. Very friendly owner. Fresh fish options daily: blue grenadier, snapper, barramundi etc
Gluten free flour, and gluten free crumb available. Make sure to let staff know when you order of GF required.
Ordered in store today because the other fish and chip shop is closed in Fairfield.. spent a decent chunk of change and am a little disappointed in the quality of what we received. Firstly, I asked for well done crispy chips and got soggy oily ones instead, flake and barramundi not tasty and batter very very very oily. Seafood sticks, hotdog in batter, scallop, calamari and prawn also bland and batter way too thick, could barely enjoy the meat. Service was nice by the older gentleman however I fear the food lacked quality because there was multiple orders placed at one time. Unfortunately don’t think I’ll be back, defiantly not worth the $55 paid.
He ripps people off. I have been a customer for over 5 years ,yet he ripped me off with the total amount 2x in a row .
Needless to say I won’t be again , but always do the maths when you order there. Otherwise he will rip you off even if your a first time customer or a regular. Absolutely disgraceful.
The burger with the lot is pretty good.
A tad on the pricey side though compared to others, and not including beetroot doesn’t quite tick the box for “the lot” as it were, but he does make a pretty decent burger none the less. An occasional treat!
Over charged me. One calamari ring, one scallop, a small garden salad and one small chips(even if it is medium)? Charged 21? Real confused.
Nice fish and chips in a shabby place
