About
Pier151 is a takeaway fish and chip shop in Frankston that draws a loyal crowd for lunch and dinner. The menu centres on classic fare, with flake and chips the signature offering, alongside potato cakes, scallops, dim sims, and a solid range of burgers and rolls. The chicken schnitzel burger has earned a following as well, with regulars rating it among the better burgers in the area.
The batter here is thick, crispy, and flaky, and the food carries a homemade quality that keeps people coming back. Potato cakes in particular get consistent praise from those who order them regularly. Family deal options make it a practical choice for groups, and the kids’ menu means younger diners are well looked after.
Owner Ralph is a visible presence behind the counter, known for attentive service and a welcoming attitude toward both regulars and first-timers. Frankston locals have noted the genuine warmth of the place, including the care shown when bringing new staff up to speed. Card and mobile payments are accepted, street parking is free nearby, and the shop has wheelchair-accessible parking available.
Chip portions and fish quality have drawn mixed feedback from some visitors, so it pays to order during busy service times when throughput is highest. Phone ahead for larger family orders during the dinner rush.

We had the family deal and a calamari pack. Everything was fresh, tasty and perfectly cooked. Staff were great and we particularly loved the kindness displayed from the owner when training a new staff member on the till. Customer service was awesome and we can’t recommend this take away fish and chip shop enough. Menu is extensive and given this is new management we hope they will stay for a long time to come. Well done !
Just had an amazing chicken schnitzel burger which was suggested by the owner, as well as 2 potato cakes and small chips for $17! Chicken schnitzel was perfect, and only $9.50 with bacon. The potato cakes are easily the best potato cakes I’ve ever had. Chips were fresh with just the right amount of crunch. Best and cheapest fish and chips in Frankston! 110% recommended
This place has really picked up its game. Food has been good and so has service. Much better than when they opened. The old guy that works there is a legend to.
Beautiful fresh seafood and their burgers and rolls are great too, has a very homemade feel to the food which is always nice. You don’t feel you’re eaten tonnes of oil.
Surprised to see negative reviews here, we’ve been very impressed every time we’ve ordered from here.
Hands down the best chips from any fish and chip place we’ve tried. Crispy and not the slightest bit greasy.
Great service and very friendly owner. The batter was thick, crispy and flaky. We ordered two flakes with chips and added scallops too. So delicious, just what we needed for lunch!
Visiting from South Aussie and was looking forward to a feed of flake. We were not disappointed it was bloody beautiful. Ralph and Linda are super friendly and we certainly got great value for money. They even gave us a Greek salad and some prawns as a bonus. Will definitely be going back again. Highly recommend.
Got the $15 fish, chips, potato cake, dim sim special today. Got some weird looking fat fish instead of flake, chips were very light on and dim sim is not great. Peter fish and chips in foot street so much better. Won’t be back again. Very disappointing 😞
Food was absolutely amazing, service was exceptional and the atmosphere took me back to my childhood. Coming here again 100%
