About
Greenhill Fish and Chips is a casual diner and takeaway spot in Greensborough, Victoria, serving the local area for lunch and dinner across six days a week. The menu covers the classics well, with flake, calamari rings, potato cakes, dim sims, and chips all on offer, alongside burgers and souvlakis that have built a loyal following among regulars. Free parking is available on-site and along nearby streets, and the shop accepts card and mobile payments. Wheelchair-accessible car parking is also provided.
The chips are a consistent highlight, praised for their golden colour and fluffy interior. Dine-in and takeaway customers tend to get the best results, with the food arriving hot and fresh. The burgers and souvlakis get a solid mention from newer visitors to the area, and the potato cakes and dim sims are popular additions to most orders. Reviews from long-time locals suggest the quality has held up over many years of return visits.
Delivery is available through third-party services, though food quality over that channel can be variable, as is the case with many suburban fish and chip shops. Ordering directly and collecting in person is the more reliable option, particularly during the busier Friday and Saturday evening periods.
Phone ahead during peak dinner hours to avoid a wait.

Ordered thru Uber Eats.. save yourself the trouble and open a can of tuna. The chips were cold, the grilled flake absolutely rubbish.. over cooked and inedible..
fried dim sum no longer had any crunch.Soggy potato cake stuck to the paper.. I’d give them less stars but I’m hoping it was an off day. Always looking to support local business and will pay for it but do your community the courtesy of serving up better food
Nice people but not so nice food
Thought we would give it a try but the fish was dry, the calamari was made of shredded fish I think? And the chips were nuclear yellow and not tasty
Sorry don’t like giving bad reviews but just being honest
Mysteriously, my last critical review has disappeared! My order took forever, so long in fact a number of customers came in after me and were on their way out well before me. When I questioned this with the owner, I was told that I was welcome to take my business elsewhere! The owner is particularly rude. The nuclear yellow chips were horrible, the burger meat dry and the fish was most unpalatable. They even screwed up and missed part of my order, unfortunately not discovered until I got home. Do yourself and loved ones a favour and give this business a very wide berth. I hope it changes hands soon, it has been great with previous management.
Always ring in advance so wait times and service from the staff hard to judge. But the chips…magnificent golden brown and fluffy on the inside. Fish, dim sims and potato cakes were also very good. Been here on and off for 20 years and although the owners keep changing, the chips continue to be super. Must be the equipment and oil.
We’ve given this chippy more than enough chances and now we are done . The chips are dry and taste like card board – $9 for a piece of fish with soggy raw batter. Expensive and the lowest quality . Learn to cook fish and chips there is NO reason to sell food this bad
We have been going to Greenhills for years, so appreciate the effort that goes into the food. Chips are great and we have always enjoyed our meals whether a burger or fish. Such an easy tasty option.
Just moved to the area, and was keen to find a new weekly take out place. Safe to say the food was amazing, especially the burger and souvlakis we ordered. Chips were crispy and cooked to perfection. Cant wait to continue ordering from this place!!
Tonight we ordered fish and chips and they stuffed up the order as they forgot to include my sons chicken souvalaki that I paid for.
I had to go back and my son ran in to grab it and the girl was rude and said he could not leave without paying for it again.
Cut a long story short my son didn’t tell me this until we were half way home that he paid for it.
When I called them the girl argued saying it wasn’t paid for when in fact it was with the original order!!!
Well expensive night for what we got minimum chips, 2 souvalakis- one paid twice hamburger, spring roll and 4 potato cakes $72
