About
Michael’s Fish Shop in Hoppers Crossing is a solid local option for takeaway fish and chips, with a menu built around the classics done well. Flake and potato cakes are the signature pairing here, and regulars keep coming back for the chips in particular, describing them as fresh, hot, and well seasoned. The shop is also known for its battered Mars bar, and fried options like mussels and crab sticks add a bit of variety beyond the standard menu.
The shop is family friendly, with a kids’ menu available and free parking on site. Wheelchair access is available, and the venue is casual enough for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner. Orders can be placed for takeaway or delivery, making it a convenient choice for anyone in the Hoppers Crossing and surrounding areas.
Value for money comes up consistently, and the quality of the food draws regulars who visit more than once a week. The fish and chip shop draws decent reviews across a solid number of visits, with the freshness of the flake earning particular mention from those who had struggled to find a reliable spot in the area.

I ordered Barramundi, Flakes and Batter fish.
Some flies in the shop.
Staff nice & the Lebanese owner genuinely tries to offer good services.
Great ventilation in place.
If the owner addresses the fly problem, I will amend my review, plus I will add one star to the 3. Other than that, the place is clean.
Quality of fish, chips and cooking is satisfactory.
Worst fish and chips I’ve ever had in my life.
You’ll get 20% food and the rest is all batter.
Tasted bland, sad that We had to chuck almost everything in the bin. Paid $33 for absolute rubbish food.
I wonder how they’re still in business serving this kind of food.
Never ever going back again, wouldn’t recommend anyone to buy from this shop.
We love this fish and chips shop! The cheeseburger is especially good and has a really great flavor to it, it just tastes fresh! My wife loves the fried mussels and fried crab stick. The fries mars bar is absolutely delicious. And the best part it’s affordable and super easy. The guys inside are really nice and will always put extra chicken salt on our fried fish. So happy we can support our local businesses, but it’s easy to when the food is this good! Thanks guys!
Drove to Michael’s at 7:20pm on Saturday to order the family’s dinner. When we walked in the door was open but they had just mopped the floor, so I asked if they where closed and they said no we just can’t order anything from the grill. Mum and I placed our order which was min chips, 2 steamed dim sim, hamburger in batter, 2 flake and 6 potato cakes. We paid, waited outside for our order and drove home by the time we got home it was 8pm. We opened our order to see “ 2 flake” which cost $9 each! They where size of a chip! What a joke! I instantly drove back to the shop and got there at 8:15pm and they where closed the lights off and everything. Extremely disappointed especially with the priced we paid and the quality we received!!
Never write reviews but wow. Not sure what happened here. Minimum chips. Standard order. Hung up before order was complete and when opened up at home find 50c worth of chips not $6.10 worth.
Good chips for sure. But could only just feed the 2 kids. Nothing left for us adults.
Will not be returning.
This shop used to be the best fish and chips around! The quality has gone downhill!
I ordered through Door Dash, and the chips were full of oil, and the minimum serve was so small, there was a hair totally unsatisfied
The food here is amazing. I come here almost once a week just to get the chips! The food here is so well cooked and overall a great place to go to
Wow. Awesome fish and chips. We had fresh tasty flake. Hard to find a decent fish and chip shop in Hoppers, Tarneit.. This will be our regular!
