About
Thalassa Fish and Chippers has been a familiar face in Hoppers Crossing for many years, with the same crew still working the fryers and grill. That kind of consistency draws regulars back, and the shop has built a decent local following across lunch and dinner trade.
The grilled flake is the item most worth ordering here. Served with a slice of lemon, it draws plenty of praise for its presentation and flavour. Sweet potato cakes are a point of difference, with fans describing them as a highlight of the meal. The chips are well regarded too, consistently seasoned and satisfying. Souvlaki also appears on the menu for those after something a little different.
Thalassa is takeaway only, so there is no sit-down option, but free parking makes pick-up straightforward. The shop accepts card and mobile payments, and a kids’ menu makes it a practical choice for families in the Hoppers Crossing area. It is worth noting that some visits have turned up inconsistencies in portion sizes and batter quality, so it is not without the occasional off night.
For a casual, affordable fish and chip shop in Hoppers Crossing, this one has enough loyal supporters to make it a genuine local option. Phone ahead during the dinner rush if you want to avoid a wait.

Great little Fish n chip shop. I have been going to Thalassa for many years while in Hoppers. Hadn’t been back foe years until recently and noticed that the same gents are still there cooking. Highly recommended if you are local and want good quality takeaway.
This used to be a favourite fish and chip shop but hadn’t been in some time. Found all the batter to be a bit overcooked resulting in hard/dry food. Chips were good. Souvlaki was good but not hot. Overall, not horrible but definitely not great.
ordered takeaway, both my partner and parents have fallen beyond ill. it’s almost a week later and still suffering from food poisoning. if you want fish that’s stale and will nearly kill you this place is amazing for it !
Found this place on google maps when looking for something to eat. So glad I did. Service and food was fantastic. Best Fish and Chips meal I have had since moving to the area.
Girl behind the counter was nice, but the owner is very rude and was yelling at her. The chips were cold and meat was undercooked. Hope that poor girl leaves soon, I’m never going back and neither should you.
Even though it was busy, the food comes out fantastic with great presentation. A slice of lemon with grilled flake, sweet potato cakes were amazing too! Loved the chips here, perfectly Seasoning 👌 will be back forever
Foods always great here ,never had anything to complain about ☺️
The grilled flake was very small thin and very dry The $6 chips were a hand full of. I asked for salt and vinegar and got very little of both.
