Good quality old school fish and chips. Flake was firm, potato cakes a little thin and overall a decent feed that you don’t feel heavy after eating.
I ordered my food at 5pm with estimated delivery between 5:45-6:05. it was actually delivered at 8:10, which led to lots of difficulties with a very hangry 5 year old. When I called Ocean Blue they just asked me to call menu log and hang up. Once the food was finally delivered, everything was very fatty, the chips were soft and nothing warm anymore. Not to recommend at all.
Ordered some chips and potato cakes over the phone. Man asked if I wanted normal salt or chicken and I opted for the latter. Picked up on time and straight home. Chips were firm and good size but unfortunately slightly under cooked with hardly a sprinkle of chicken salt to taste. Potato cakes were thin and some broken up and flimsy. Lost me
Garbage. Straight in the bin. Cardboard fish, undercooked batter, oily soaked potato cakes, undercooked chips. Two bites was enough. Never again. Grotty shop inside sets the expectation. Staff friendly. Won’t go back 🤢
I really, really like this fish’n’chip shop. Nestled amongst the expensive superficial facade that Ivanhoe has become, is this time capsule that has changed hands many times over the years.
Sole food should not break the bank. It should satisfy, in its simplicity.
Just try it. Spend this Saturday night home with family. Bask in the joy of Ocean Blue.
