About
North Ivanhoe Fish & Chips is a well-rated fish and chip shop serving the Ivanhoe community for lunch and dinner, open Tuesday through Sunday with extended Friday hours. The menu keeps things classic, featuring gummy flake, calamari rings, dim sims, and potato cakes alongside small and large chips, with burgers and sandwiches rounding out the options. Vegetarian choices are available, and the venue is family friendly with dine-in, takeaway, and delivery all on the table.
Regulars point to the chips as a highlight, often noting how golden and consistently salted they come out. The flake is praised for tasting fresh, and portion sizes get a regular mention as being generous for the price. The atmosphere is casual and unhurried, with friendly staff known for making the visit feel welcoming rather than transactional.
Wheelchair-accessible parking is available, and free street parking makes it a convenient stop for anyone nearby. No reservations are taken, so it suits walk-ins and solo diners just as well as families and small groups.
Phone ahead during the Friday dinner rush to avoid a wait.

Don’t bother, worst fish and chips I have had in a long time. Fish was mainly all batter and not cooked through, chips were cooked in dirty oil potato cakes were overcooked and uneatable

Thought I would give it another go it was terrible. Flake crabsick and potato cakes were saturated in oil to the point when you put your finger on the potatoe cake. The oil would come out of the batter and finger covered in oil. Flake was disgusting will not eat here again
I came last night and it was the best fish and chip experience I have ever had. Marianne and Niamh are the nicest and always make me laugh. While the owner Calvin also makes sure you enjoy your food. The chips were so golden and the chicken nuggets were so good.
Great fish and chip shop with generous servings and the fish tastes very fresh. The chips are fantastic. The staff are friendly and the food is very reasonably priced.
Went last night and had a lamb souvlaki, can’t find anything nice to say about it. Was barely any filling, the meat was chewy and tasted off.Two friends got fish and chips also, and we were all sick the next day.
The worst fish and chips. The flake we could not even eat so oily and uneatable brown overcooked batter I don’t think it was even flake . Total waste of money . How you could even serve this to your customers is a disgrace. Small over cooked tiny pieces of chips . Potato cakes were the only thing that was ok . This photo attached is what will be now thrown in the bin where it belongs .
Incredible fish and chips I was served by this girl named Niamh there she was so chill honestly we do have fun
$16 for this!? In this economy? (Also not pictured is a can of drink)
I watched them make this fresh, batter and all and my goodness… I wholeheartedly recommend this place. If you want deliciously crispy chips salted to perfection, a portion size that would make economists jealous… come here!!!
Grilled flake was delicious. Great chips. Def recommend.
