About
Alder Street Fish & Chips has been a fixture in Kangaroo Flat for a long time, and the regulars keep coming back for good reason. The shop has built a well-rated reputation across hundreds of visits, with the food quality reportedly improving over the years rather than slipping. Fast, friendly service is a consistent thread through the feedback, and the team handles busy periods with a calm, well-organised rhythm.
The menu covers the classics that a fish and chip shop in Kangaroo Flat should. Burgers are a favourite, loaded generously and praised for holding their quality visit after visit. Chips are seasoned well, with chicken salt a popular choice. The fish is solid and reliably cooked, keeping both lunch and dinner crowds happy. Portions are considered good value for money, which keeps people returning rather than just passing through once.
Alder Street Fish & Chips is open for both lunch and dinner, with dine-in and takeaway available, making it a practical option for families. We recently had a great feed of fish and chips from the Alder Street Fish & Chip shop. The night we were there Dean was busy taking customer orders and running the register while the rest of the team were doing their designated jobs too. It was like a well-oiled machine to see the crew in action on this busy night. We were very happy with our meals however the stand out for us was when we cut into the Flake it was a brilliant white. Some places the Flake is gray in colour and not very appetizing. Not the case here though. Well done!
Good little old school take away shop. I ordered the burger witht he lot. With a uspized to bottle of water was about $18 dollars. Came back ordered the same still amazing quality and cheap for what you get! Love the burgers here friendly staff fast service!!!
I ordered the fish n chips, and a plain burger. 10 minute wait time. Burger was lovely filled with the patty, tomatoes and lettuce. No cheese though what a bummer. Chips were salted great with the chicken salt. Service was friendly and helpful. Will definitely come by again.
Been buying fish and chips hear for 20 years…..they were always good but now they are even better if possible. Service is fast and friendly. Food is absolutely divine. If you love fish and chips this is definitely the place 👌 😋
reviews seemed to give it a good rap and it was insanely busy when we picked up the food but unfortunately all the products were below par- soggy fish with uncooked batter- scallops that just tasted of water and soft chips…really want to support this local biz
The worst fish and chips we’ve ever had. We were visiting Bendigo and decided on fish and chips. Served by a surly young girl who obviously didn’t want to be there on a Sat night. We got our food, went back to our hotel and were so looking forward to it Opened it up, took one look and looked at each other. To start with, no lemon! Next, the batter on the fish looked awful. Tried to cut the fish but had to get a steak knife to get through it. The chips were tiny little things and the whole experience was just dreadful. So disappointing. Should have taken it back but it was close to closing.
clean front of house makes a good impression ample seating to wait for order steak sandwich was actually good no tough or stringy sujjesr trying with BBq sauce no parking out front but side street plenty friendly efficant staff
