About
Cotham Road Fish & Chips is a well-regarded fish and chip shop in Kew, serving up the kind of straightforward, no-fuss fare that keeps locals coming back. The menu centres on battered flake, chips, and potato cakes, with calamari, grilled barramundi, and other grilled options rounding things out for those after something a little lighter.
The chips are fried to order and served in generous portions at a reasonable price point, which earns the shop plenty of repeat visits from the Kew crowd. Batter on the flake is generally crispy without being excessively oily, though some regulars have noted inconsistency between visits, so it can be worth phoning ahead if you are particular about your fish. Potato cakes are a firm favourite and worth adding to any order.
Service is friendly and relaxed, with card payments accepted and free street parking out front making it an easy stop. The shop is family friendly and takeaway focused, so it suits a quick weeknight meal or a Saturday feed for the whole family. It is the sort of neighbourhood fish and chip shop in Kew that reminds people why the format endures.

Been twice now and find the fish very oily. it’s like fried in lard and trapped between the batter and fish.
I thought first time was just not drained well; tried again and same and it made me sick.
Sad, as the fish itself is nice. I won’t be back which is unfortunate as it would easily be my local.
I’ve had food from here before and it was ok but what I had today was nothing short of terrible. The fish souvlaki was mostly just fish, lettuce and lots of sauce and is definitely the worst fish souvlaki I’ve ever had. And the chips were really overcooked- probably the worst I’ve ever had. I couldn’t finish either, they were so bad.
I recently purchased a burger from your café for $14.20, and unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the quality. The burger was severely overcooked, dry, and difficult to eat. It did not meet the standard I expected for the price I paid.
I kindly request a refund , as I was unable to enjoy the meal. I hope you take this feedback seriously to improve the quality and
Been here twice now and had battered flake, minimum chips, potato cakes and steamed dim sims. Serve sizes excellent. Heaps of chips. No problems with the batter. Crispy and no more oily than any other fish and chip shop. Overall a great take away shop and very reasonable prices.
They don’t make fish and chip shops like this anymore. Last of a dying breed. Great customer service too- very friendly.
Got a serve of minimum chips and 2 potato cakes from here on boxing day. Cost $10 something. Chips a little overcooked and what else was it…oh yeah! I only got 1 potato cake! Man that pissed me right off as i was already way too far to do anything about it. Otherwise everything was fine i guess
Suileman the magnificent recommended me and I wasn’t disappointed. The kebabs were great and Ezme and Haydari was delicious. Good work.
Nice fish & chip pack!
